"Suburban player’s take on community day in a rural town"

#PokemonGO: So, this community day weekend I have been camping out in the boonies, however since this camping trip came about last minute, I was offered the opportunity to drive 45 mins into the nearest town to participate in Saturday’s event!I am a level 31 suburban player, and I decided to document my experience of doing community day in a small rural town. The entire town had a population of around 2000 people, 7 pokestops not including gyms and 2 gyms, with the best grinding spot having 2 single stops and 1 double stop.Once the event started I noticed the only two stops in the whole town lured were the double stop, and I didn’t see anyone there so likely they were lured from inside by a person working in the buildings nearby, I lured the other 2 stops and worked on walking between the 4 with an incense and star-piece active.Over the course of the 3 hours I didn’t see a single other player. It was quite lonely. This was probably the worst part, as even though I am a suburban player, every player in the town converges in community day and there is usually quite a turn out. Also, the fact that I could only get 4 community day quests and 4 total stops caused my bag which had around 300 pokeballs in it to absolutely take a hit and I nearly ran out of balls. After the fact my turnout was ok. I landed 4 shiny eevees (luckily I have a friend back in town who caught a few extra I will be able to have) and got a 100% kirlia from a level 2 raid that started mid way through.Overall, my assessment of rural play is such- The number and variety of Pokémon spawns is not the problem, the problem is the lack of community due to size of location, and lack of stops preventing players from getting pokeballs and other nesisary items in order for them to continue in their adventure and have fun playing the game, also killing the player base in the area. This post lacks grammar, however, I hope my experience helps shed more light on the issues surrounding rural playersPS - The nearest populated area from the town was an hour away. Also, I should have previously mentioned, the issue of lack of stops can be combated by simply buying essential items such as pokeballs and potions, however, forcing people to pay to have fun is wrong and horrible. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2MniudT
