"Training against Snorlax, CP efficiency"

#PokemonGO: The spreadsheets from Professor_Kikui, qmike, and dneal12 and various infographics you may have seen around here are based on performance at the same level, e.g. how a level 30 Wartortle performs versus a level 30 Vaporeon. They show that Vaporeon is much stronger. For training/prestiging a gym, having a low CP is essential for maximizing prestige gain. Ideally, you use an attacker that is half the CP of the defender in order to get the maximum 1000 prestige per battle. Assuming a 2200 CP defender, you would use a 1100 CP attacker.A 1100 CP Vaporeon could be level 12, while a 1100 CP Wartortle would be level 30. The tables below show when these two Pokemon are at the same CP, Wartortle is actually slightly stronger. The most important stat for choosing Pokemon to train a gym is CP efficiency, a Pokemon's strength per CP. In the below tables, I've listed CP efficiency as a percentile, relative to the best Pokemon for that defender's moveset other than Chansey. Since Chansey takes so long to battle and can time out, I don't want to skew the percentiles by basing them on her.All calculations assume you dodge only charge attacks. You can adjust this yourself in the spreadsheet.SnorlaxAvg - Simple average of performance across all movesetsW. avg - Weighted average of the movesets, based on the A-F defender ratings from GamePress. Zen Headbutt/Hyper Beam, the best moveset, has a weight of 6 while Lick/Earthquake, the worst moveset, has a weight of 3. At least for Snorlax, weighted average is not much different from simple average.Max CP - Max CP at level 30The below columns represent the performance against each of Snorlax's movesetsZH HB - Zen Headbutt / Hyper BeamZH BS - Zen Headbutt / Body SlamZH EQ - Zen Headbutt / EarthquakeL HB - Lick / Hyper BeamL BS - Lick / Body SlamL EQ - Lick / EarthquakePro tip: you can sort columns by clicking on the headerPokemonBasicChargeAvgW. avgZH HBZH BSZH EQL HBL BSL EQMax CPChanseyPoundHyper Beam189%188%184%180%180%197%197%197%1,259ChanseyPoundPsychic152%151%147%144%144%158%158%158%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttHyper Beam151%150%146%143%143%157%157%157%1,259ChanseyPoundDazzling Gleam138%137%134%131%131%144%144%144%1,259ChanseyPoundPsybeam138%137%134%131%131%144%144%144%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttPsychic123%122%119%117%117%128%128%128%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttDazzling Gleam105%105%102%100%100%110%110%110%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttPsybeam97%97%95%93%93%102%102%102%1,259JigglypuffPoundBody Slam96%95%93%91%91%100%100%100%611WigglytuffPoundHyper Beam90%90%88%86%86%94%94%94%1,634JigglypuffPoundPlay Rough89%88%86%84%84%93%93%93%611DrowzeePoundPsychic86%88%100%100%100%74%71%71%850SeelWater GunAqua Tail86%87%89%87%87%86%84%84%770SlowpokeWater GunPsychic84%86%98%98%98%73%70%70%1,032OnixRock ThrowStone Edge85%86%92%88%78%90%86%73%859LickitungZen HeadbuttHyper Beam84%84%82%80%80%88%88%88%1,133DrowzeeConfusionPsychic80%82%93%93%93%69%66%66%850DewgongFrost BreathBlizzard81%82%84%82%82%81%79%79%1,624OnixTackleStone Edge80%81%87%84%74%86%82%69%859LickitungLickHyper Beam82%81%79%78%78%85%85%85%1,133HypnoZen HeadbuttPsychic79%81%92%92%92%68%65%65%1,755WartortleWater GunHydro Pump80%80%83%81%81%80%78%78%1,135BlastoiseWater GunHydro Pump80%80%82%81%81%79%77%77%1,964DewgongIce ShardBlizzard80%80%82%81%81%79%77%77%1,624WigglytuffPoundPlay Rough80%80%78%76%76%84%84%84%1,634SlowbroWater GunPsychic78%80%90%90%90%67%64%64%2,127SnorlaxZen HeadbuttHyper Beam80%80%78%76%76%83%83%83%2,876VaporeonWater GunHydro Pump79%79%82%80%80%79%77%77%2,706OnixRock ThrowRock Slide78%79%84%81%72%83%80%67%859LaprasFrost BreathBlizzard78%78%80%79%79%77%76%76%2,555MeowthScratchBody Slam78%78%76%74%74%82%82%82%547DrowzeePoundPsyshock75%77%88%88%88%65%62%62%850SnorlaxLickHyper Beam78%77%75%74%74%81%81%81%2,876OnixTackleRock Slide76%77%82%79%70%81%77%65%859PidgeotWing AttackHurricane78%77%74%72%76%79%79%86%1,709LaprasIce ShardBlizzard76%77%79%77%77%76%74%74%2,555ArticunoFrost BreathBlizzard77%76%77%76%80%74%73%79%2,514HypnoConfusionPsychic75%76%87%87%87%64%61%61%1,755ParasectBug BiteSolar Beam77%76%76%75%83%73%72%83%1,420EeveeTackleBody Slam77%76%74%73%73%80%80%80%830JigglypuffFeint AttackBody Slam76%76%74%72%72%79%79%79%611OmastarWater GunHydro Pump74%75%80%77%68%79%76%64%2,301SlowpokeWater GunPsyshock73%75%85%85%85%63%60%60%1,032SlowpokeConfusionPsychic73%75%85%85%85%63%60%60%1,032ExeggcuteConfusionPsychic73%74%83%83%89%61%59%63%944GolemMud ShotEarthquake73%74%79%76%67%78%75%63%2,500SnorlaxZen HeadbuttBody Slam74%74%72%71%71%77%77%77%2,876WigglytuffFeint AttackHyper Beam74%74%72%71%71%77%77%77%1,634MoreObservationsSnorlax has fairly neutral typing, so this table will be mostly accurate against most defenders.Chansey will very likely time out against a high HP defender like Snorlax. She may be usable against less tanky defenders.Jigglypuff is the best, after Chansey, but its low Max CP at level 30 of 611 makes her rarely useful. But if you have a few 500+ CP Jigglypuff, it may be worthwhile to save them for those rare occasions when you need to train against 1000-1200 CP defenders.Wigglytuff is practically the best, after excluding Chansey and Jigglypuff.Slowpoke, Drowzee, and Hypno are the strongest against Snorlax with Zen Headbutt, due to psychic types resisting psychic attacks. But they're weak against Lick, which is a ghost attack. The second stage evolutions of the starters all perform almost the same as their third stage, so don't waste your candies evolving Ivysaur into Venusaur. Wartortle Max CP at level 30 is only 1135, so if you need higher, then you could go for Blastoise. Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard are all pretty mediocre (even against Exeggutor), so I'm not wasting balls trying to catch them.Onix, Lickitung, Dewgong are excellent for prestiging. Who knew? I used to just transfer those.SpreadsheetView only, or make a copyIncludes full list of all Pokemon attackers, and more defenders (work in progress).CreditsThis is based on /u/vlfph's excellent CP efficiency v4 spreadsheet, using the Target Input sheet. All the credit should go to him; I'm simply repackaging his work in a more digestible format. Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous thread, "Wartortle, Ivysaur are excellent for prestiging. CP efficiency by type". I believe this current approach of basing it on specific defenders is much more accurate than simply organizing it by type, as it takes into account the type bonuses.ConclusionLet me know what you think. I'm currently working on other popular defenders like Lapras, Vaporeon, Exeggutor, Rhydon, and Gyarados. I'll take your comments into consideration before I publish those results. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2ia9WF3
