"Is it possible for Pokemon to be deaf?"

I was watching the 26th episode of the Pokemon Sun and Moon anime last night, and something in particular appeared to be odd.That thing, being that Togedemaru had trouble understanding what Mamane was saying. Each time Togedemaru was being talked to by Sophocles, it seemed to not understand him without the help of a visual aid (I could have sworn that he was trying to do sign language to help Togedemaru). Thinking back to previous episodes, Togedemaru has had trouble when she was getting happy, rolling and bouncing around various places without being able to stop (maybe she's deaf, explaining why she can't hear them telling her to stop).I don't think they're ever likely to make a Pokemon deaf, I think they're just trying to show that she is still young and has yet to mature.What do you think?
