"Pokemon that just sort of "lost something" in the 3D transition - who looked better as a sprite?"

I remember when I first saw Hippowdon in D/P. The thought of a massive hippo buried in its own sand, which poured from vents on its back, was really cool. This was a Pokemon that would summon a sandstorm, I thought. But in 3D, Hippowdon is not submerged in its own sand. Sand doesn't pour from its portholes. It just sort of stands there. Mouth closed, eyes droopy, and sandless... Hippowdon lost all its menace.Typhlosion line is another one. Before XY, it never occurred to me that their fire wasn't ignited at all times. Seeing Cyndaquil unignited and Typlosion without its collar makes them feel so impotent in comparison. Then there's Empoleon. It got taller in the 3D transition and doesn't look quite as stout as before. Its wings, which hang statically, don't do it any favors. Empoleon previously looked postured and regal - now it looks kind of goofy. There was something sturdy about old Empoleon. 3D Empoleon looks more like a bowling pin! This thread isn't to start an argument that sprites are better than the 3D models or anything like that, this is just specifically about certain Pokemon who didn't seem to properly translate. Are there any others that disappoint you? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2u5uovR
