"Similarly to how almost every Water type gets Ice Beam, Grass types should learn Earth Power"

One of the many great traits of the Water type is that most of them have Ice coverage by default, a fantastic offensive type which covers one of their weaknesses. This makes sense- ice is simply water in a different state, so virtually all Water types can manipulate it.Similarly, all plant life emerges from the soil, and is nourished by the nutrients within it. As such, it seems strange how few Grass types benefit from this trait, especially given how many things Grass has working against it. Giving more Grass types Ground moves would both work well thematically, and counter two of Grass' many weaknesses, Fire and Poison. It'd also give them an answer to Steel types.I understand Grass types not getting Earthquake and Bulldoze, of course. They're moves which imply a high level of physicality (pounding the ground until it shakes), and wouldn't fit most Grass types. However, something like Earth Power seems thematically appropriate, and useful given that many Grass types are special attackers. GameFreak have flirted with this idea already, giving Venusaur it by TR in Generation 8. Make it a TM in Gen 8, and allow our plants to harness the energies of the Earth! via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/xLnzwj2
