"Examining Nests"

#PokemonGO: Hi, I've been a contributor to the subreddit for awhile, I've helped on a few projects such as the move database and the global pokedex from my time in beta. I thought I'd start doing my own part of research for the game. I've been researching nests since early in the beta and I've taken some information from a local Jynx nest that was a Starmie nest in early beta until they changed the spawn mechanics. They do not seem to be affected by time and just seem to produce the same pokemon regardless of other mechanics.Nests are consistent spawn locations that produce many of the same Pokemon, normally either single evolution (Jynx, Kangishkhan) second stage evolutions (Starmie and Kingler) and first stage third evolutions (Dratini) they are important to trainers as they allow them to quickly gather a particular rare pokemon or gather candy for that type. Here is an example nest: http://ift.tt/29KKmHS'd like to examine nests and help build a map for marking them via the google maps custom markers, to do so for those willing I'd need you all to go out and explore and locate areas where nests exist. I'll be creating the map later tonight so I thought I'd collect some data before I show anything, all data would be voluntary however if trainers wanted to attach their Trainername have it added to the note on the marker I am happy to give credit. For those interested in doing their part, I've found nests commonly reside in big city parks, such as the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens. Some people might wonder why submit something like this when the global dex exists and my response is:It's specialized to finding nests not random spawns. It has easier submission guidelines that wouldn't work for the global dex.It will help identify rare Pokemon in their area rather than looking for a particular type and seeing if someone has found one nearby (Basically you have more like finding something randomly good nearby than finding the exact thing you want). Here are the guidelines and steps for submission of nests When you find a nest:Take a screenshot of your nearby radar in the nest.Take a screenshot of your character standing at the location (Close the nearby radar and don't move the screen so the shots line up).Get the address of the nest location.PM me the 2 screenshots, the nest address and whether you want your trainer name on the marker.Guidelines: * No common Pokemon types (No Weedle nests), I am solely looking to find uncommon Pokemon types to help people complete their dex quicker and find things more reliably.I am not responsible for what others use the data for (If a nest is at your house either don't submit it or don't submit your trainer name) however from my experience they seem to commonly be located in major city areas and public places such as stadiums. If you find a nest is inaccurate PM and I will remove it or add a note saying that it was reported. If you are doing so please follow the same submission guidelines but showing the nest to be inaccurate.PM me for any questions queries etc.EDIT: Some people have found more accurate nest location data in local subreddits, local groups etc, if you know of these lists feel free to link them and I will add them to the map. This is far from complete but here is a nest list based on data submitted already, if you want a more conclusive map, please submit more data and I'll add it to the list:http://ift.tt/2aitsMi via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/29Yje7P
