"I played Ingress for years, here's three tips for enjoying this kind of game"
#PokemonGO: I played a lot of Ingress, all over the US for years. Sometimes I played a lot (I was the first max level player in new england) and sometimes I played very casually. I made a ton of friends, and love the game and it's great to see Pokemon Go do so many of the same things right. Here's a few tips for getting the most out of this kind of game:You're going to have to make your own goals - I saw lots of people quit Ingress after hitting max level because that was the only goal they had, and other people would quit because the leveling curve was too steep for the last couple levels. But really there's no way to "win" a game like this, so you're going to have to make your own goals. Do you want your team to own every gym in your town at the same time? You'll have to organize a group to go out and do it with you. Do you want to have more Pidgey candy than anyone else?? Of course, sometimes it's fun to just get out and walk and meet people or visit friends too.Plan times and places to play. Lots of people will only play this game on their commute or around their house, but that's very limiting. It's a lot more fun to pick a good place to play and block out some time to play and just enjoy playing the game. Plus you can get a lot more done in a good area than a bad one (and if it has good cell reception and nice walking paths, even better). This is especially good if you can plan a stop at a bar/pizza place/etc. that has a few pokestops.Don't play all the time. This game is everywhere which means you'll be tempted to pull out your phone and check what's nearby anytime you're out. Other people will get sick of that very quickly, so make sure to 'log off' when you've got other plans going on. Bonus - if you're good about not running off to visit every pokestop while you're out at dinner it means people will understand if you have a "pokemon emergency" and need to pop out for a minute to grab that Blastoise :) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/29YpWY8
