"Should Vaporeon be nerfed? How?"
#PokemonGO: I'm going to copy/paste a little and expand upon a comment I made in another thread. I think it deserves a topic of its own for visibility's sake.Does the presence of Vaporeon on all the "Top Pokemon" lists concern anyone else? It's an incredibly easy Pokemon to evolve even at low levels and it consistently rises to the top, while high effort 'mons like Venusaur, Charizard, Gyarados etc usually aren't even in the top 10. This is something that has been confirmed by the decompile in the past couple days, and it appears to be independent of CP; a maxed-out Vaporeon can take down pretty much everything else.Everywhere I go, I see Vaporeon as not only the Gym Leader, but filling most of the slots on that gym. They are almost always at 1100+ CP, meaning the trainers who placed them there have been playing hard enough that they should have access to several varieties of powerful Pokemon.I am not saying that low level players shouldn't have access to strong pokemon. What I am suggesting is that the pokemon who take the most work should have some kind of a reward. It would be incredibly frustrating for me to catch 101 Magikarp to make that elusive Gyarados only to have it beaten by a pokemon I could have made on day three of playing. Same goes for the starter pokemon, whose evolved forms aren't competitive enough to stand up against a Rainer, and are so rare as to make it a fool's errand to evolve one to the maximum.A game like this with no variety despite having a number of apparent options is regarded as having a "stale metagame." This is very bad for the game and people will get bored of it quickly. It is my opinion that if this isn't fixed as a high-priority item players will leave the game as fast as they joined. Because what's the point of catching them all if the best pokemon is seemingly as common as Pidgeys? Now, I don't know what the solution would be, or how Niantic could implement it, but I suspect that it would be as simple as changing a single number in the code to drop one stat down into a reasonable range. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/29MBVfd
