"The Experience Grind of Levelling Breakdown"

#PokemonGO: Hey everyone!I understand this wall of text might be daunting to read but skim over it if its stuff you've seen before. I'm just posting this as a collection of understanding for lower levelled players and may have some tips for how the higher levels should best spend their time.So I have been watching and reading from as many others that are ahead of me in the game to work out which will be the most efficient way for me to level up, I'm currently level 11. I have been saving up all my candy and transferring all the Pokémon I catch, keeping one of each specie in my bag mainly for reference purposes and the Pokédex nostalgia. So from my understanding the lucky eggs are the best items in the game period followed closely by the incubators and so I've been saving mine to best utilise the 30 minutes double experience.TIPSGo to as many Poké stops as you can to stock up on Poké balls collect items, find lures and other trainers. The lures and incense just aren't viable for grinding but are a welcome bonus aid if you get them from levelling or have money to throw at the game. Just understand saving that money to put into incubators will be the best use of your coins in the long run of the game but do go to lure spots if they are a small diversion you may pick up a new Pokémon early (Below level 20).Do not use any stardust to evolve or power up any of your Pokémon until level 15+ I would advise not to spend the stardust all together on powering up until much later in the game 25+.Do not be frivolous (Wasteful) with your lucky eggs, that 30 minutes should be a spree of cramming evolutions in order to get the most out of the potential experience gain. This games going to be a long haul grind, those that have ever played an MMO will be in a good stead to understand how long of a marathon this game will be. I have the grind technique below.Do not bother with gyms unless for fun until at least level 15+, even better if you can resist to level 20+ as this is where the coin grind will be for incubators and lucky eggs. Condition! If they are easy to take, then take them for the coins they will be come valuable later in the game but understand that your time fighting a gym is very expensive and wasteful in the whole scheme of the early game. But, so is throwing away potions and revives just because your bag is full so use your best judgement and fight gyms for fun when your bag is filling up it is a game after all and gives you the opportunity to so show off your prestige.BASIC GRINDCatch phase:So how not to waste your lucky eggs. So the best three Pokémon to farm are Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, which I hope you have in your area. The reasons for this is they have the lowest candy cost (12) to evolve to the second tier. Metapod, Kakuna, Pidgeotto respectively. So now you know what the best three Pokémon to grind with you now have to go and collect them. You'll need to collect 720 candy for of each Pokémon to fully utilse each lucky egg use. This is two evolutions a minute, 24 candies x 30 minutes.Efficient (12 Candies) Subtract the 60 (180 candies (+3)) captured you need to keep to evolve to the second tier. You will need to collect 540 candies (135 caught + transfers (+4)) first this paired with the 60 (180 candies (+3)) equating to the overall 720 candies again (185 captures).Average (50 Candies) This works out to be 50 (captures) x3 (candies) +1 (form the transfer of the 50). 50 captures = 4 evolutions so to reach the candies for the 60 possible evolutions x 15 in the lucky egg time frame, you'll need to collect 750 Pokémon - the 60 x 3 (180 candies) Pokémon to evolve.Note that while you evolve you get back 1 candy for the evolution so add this into math if you'd like, personally I like to have the surplusThe potential experience is 500 experience (Per first capture) + 100 experience (Per successive capture) times 690/185 (Captures) + 0/10/50/100 (Throw type: Normal/Nice/Great/Excellent) or 10 (Curveball capture).Best case scenario though unlikely to near impossible for just collecting the Pokémon. (First capture + captures + excellent throw) Experience gain in capture phase is 37,400 for efficient.Lucky Egg Phase:So now you have the amount of candies and Pokémon to utilise your 30 minute double experience you should gain 500 x double experience = 1000 experience per tier one to tier two evolution x 2 per minute x 30 minutes so 60000 experience.Breaking this down into layman's terms, collect 195 Pidgeys for example then transfer 135 of those to Professor Willow giving you 720 candies. This leaves you with 60 Pidgeys, now use your lucky egg then Evolve a Pidgey into Pidgeotto over and over as many times as you can you should get around 60 in the 30 minutes which will give you 60,000 experience.135 + 60 = 195 (12 candy Pokémon) x 3 (Candies you get from collecting the 195) + the 135 candies you get from transferring to Professor Willow gives you 720 candies and leaves you 60 Pokémon to evolve.CandyOnly evolve to tier two as this gives you 500 experience 1000 with lucky egg and the next evolution to tier three costs more candy for the same result!Never use Candy to power up your Pokémon if you're aiming to play this for longer than a few months.I'm expecting this to be around level 15 based on the current amount of 12 candy Pokémon (Caterpie,Weedle,Pidgey) I've collected for the grind. You of course can do this earlier if using the 25 candy Pokémon to add to the experience grind (Rattata, Nidoran♂, Abra) as these evolve into Pokémon below the 50% mark of the highest possible peak power. These 25 candy Pokémon on the other hand I would advise being saved until later in the game for their battle prowess (Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Eevee (look below) , Charmander, Machop, Dratini, Ghastly, Poliwag, Bellsprout, Geodude, Nidoran♀, Oddish).Following on, the 50 Candy Pokémon that are worth adding to the grind are (Zubat, Kakuna, Metapod, Ryhorn, Koffing, Pikachu, Diglett, Doduo, Ponyta, Cubone, Spearow, Ekans, Venonat, Tentacool, Kabuto, Mankey, Goldeen, Voltorbe, Paras, Meowth).Note that (Shellder, Magnemite, Grimer, Vulpix) are fringe just above the 50% mark of peak power but below the 50% of all Pokémon evolutions so choose based on your own discretion. The 50 candy Pokémon I would advise to be saved until later in the game for their battle prowess (Sandshrew, Pidgeotto, Psyduck, Horsea, Staryu, Omanyte, Slowpoke, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Seel, Magnemite, Drowsee, Exeggcute, Growlithe, Krabby)The 100 candy are (Wartortle, Machoke, Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Hunter, Dragonite, Poliwhirl, Nodorina, Gloom, Nidorano, Nidorina, Weepinbell, Kadabra, Graveler) The 400 candy? (Magikarp) Sheer madness for a Pokémon thats at the low end of the top 20% but this will be the harder first catch I assume, so may have to grind this just for the pride of Pokédex completion. At the later point of the game the candies will be less grind focused and you should look up what the next generations of Pokémon are that you may be better saving your candies for. One that springs to mind is Onyx into Steelix, Electabuzz into Electivire and Magmar into Magmortar among others from the Kanto species. Finally Eeve, this Pokémon has eight cannon evolutions and so once you've got the first generation trio you may want to just store them up and get ahead of the curve to show you're the real Pokémon Master. All of the candy information past the 25 candy champions is in relation to playing this game for a long time and so I would really advise you to do what you feel is best in regards to how long you feel you will likely play but getting your Pokédex full will be a priority of most and the grind secondary.Incubator Egg Hatchings2km Okay so by the amount of captures taken to complete one experience grind you'll have caught around 600 of one type so you will have also likely caught a multitude of other Pokémon. you get 200 experience for hatching these eggs. Due to this the 2k eggs will most likely not give you a new 500 experience catch statistically but they do give extra candies for these common Pokémon so save these for your ∞ and hatching these has been no trouble at all.5km The above is less so with the as with the 5km eggs as they can yield Pokémon you have not caught yet plus the 500 experience for the hatch. (Can gain 1000-2000 experience per hatch with lucky eggs) and these will likely fall off later in the game but again good for grinding.10km These eggs on the other hand should yield new and rare Pokémon statistically as well as 1000 experience for hatching them. (Potentially give 3000 experience hatching when using a lucky egg) I have seen people point out to save these 10km eggs until later in the game level 20 minimum as this is when you get full use of the higher tier Pokémon. I think that this is good for those playing for the long haul but those whom are not or focused on this. Completing the Pokédex fully is where these shine along side high experience givers in the late game. This should also be where your gym Pokemon come from in my opinion alongside the wild catches.GymsAs I have stated prior the gyms are not a necessary part of your progression until level 15-20 and this is where you'll then be grinding experience and coins for the incubators and lucky eggs.Fighting in groups is the easiest way yo take down gyms and its heavily in the favour of the attackers in general.Go to gyms when your items are filling up and stopping you from collecting more items.Add your Pokémon to your teams gym and help to strengthen your own gyms in order to protect your coin farming.LEVELING BREAKDOWNLevel 1-12A total of 65,000 experience to reach this level in which you should do so from collecting Pokémon, hatching eggs, playing gyms for fun. No real structure to what you are doing, just focus on catching everything you see to fill your Pokédex and understanding how the game works. Do not use any start dust to evolve or power up Pokémon just focus on transferring your Pokémon to Professor Willow for the candy. (This is due to the irrelevance of these Pokémon in context of the game as they have such a low Combat Power that they will soon be succeeded by eggs and new wild Pokémon you catch, yes even your starter Pokémon) Always have 2km eggs in the ∞ incubator as this will greatly improve the low common Pokémon candies that you have to get you into grinding quicker.Level 12-20A total of 210,000 experience to reach level 20. Use the basic grind method mentioned above which will yield 100,000 in the most efficient method with the single use of one lucky egg again with the condition of you hatching eggs. This will depend on how you utilise the incubators available to you.Level 20-30A total of 2 million to reach level 30 so the real grind starts here. You will rarely be finding new Pokémon and if you do you should go out of your way for that 500 experience as these amounts become rarer as the game progresses. Continue doing the basic grind of these low level tier Pokémon and focus on Gyms more. Hatching eggs will now be your bread and butter along with the ways to grind spoken above.Level 30-40This will now likely take 10's of millions to reach based on how the experience curve is and what to do at this point is purely speculation. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/29NHxAF
