"Meta on Stardust: how scarce is it?"
#PokemonGO: So I have been hoarding stardust like no other. I probably had until recently 95% of my total dusk collected. But I had no exceptional mons so gyms where very hard. I just spent a good chunk to max out a dragon and a snor and then realized I had a good bit left and started to do some mental math. For example: If you are at level 26 like me and have a team of 6 guys at level 26. You will, rounding up a bit, need 60k dust by the time you are level 27 to get the crew maxed. The xp required is 200k for 26-27 so assuming that a catch earns you 150xp on average and 100 dust. And say eggs depending if you are lucky egg hatching them or not are roughly the same ratio. For now let's ignor the gym defender bonuses. As long as half of your overall xp is coming from catches or eggs you should be able to keep a crew maxed. Haven't done the analysis for other levels and this may very well breakdown somewhere along the leveling curve but it seems unlikely given the exponential grown of xp per level vs the rather tame increase in star dust required.Has anyone done a similar analysis with a bit more rigor or have any thoughts or experiences?TL:DR - If a good portion of your xp comes from things that give you start dust, it might not be as crucial to the end game as I thought.edit: A lot of travelers are bringing up this is a very much play style dependent issue and I agree. I made a lot of assumptions and simplification based on my game play. Is you are a bubblestrat lover who gets 50-100k a day in xp with no dust you may have a bit of an issue keeping up but it's not like you are actually lagging behind, you just farmed xp.If anyone had a different play style would love to see your analysis. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cJG3MI
