"Theory: The Team Rocket trio only fails with Ash & co., that's why they haven't been demoted or fired"
So I've been giving this a thought since I started watching Pokémon (XY). Sure, the trio always gets blasted off in the end, but most of their plans aren't that stupid as they seem. Creating a machine that detects Pikachu's inner electricity? Sounds neat. Tricking Florges into fighting Ash & co. while they drain an entire wetlands? Not anyone can do that. In multiple episodes, it was shown that at least one of them can do programming to the level of reprogramming the entire Miare City Power Plant or creating the aforementioned robot. So while they seem stupid (it's a kids' show in the end, so the evil can't be like, really evil), they aren't. (Actually, most of the time they try to catch Pikachu, they manage to do so and if they had half the brain to speed off with the catch without making a scene, Pikachu would've been Giovanni's in what? Two episodes? Three?)Also, most of the time they see Ash & co., they just kind of stumble upon the group, not stalking them 24/7. They have more important stuff to do after all: establishing Team Rocket's local branch. Since (assumedly) this task is assigned every series by Giovanni himself, the Rocket Trio must have some significance within the organization. They are also granted massive funds (building machines, costumes and insane amounts of glitter for their motto), failures don't get that, which means they must've had successes overshadowing them. Moreover, their first "appearance" was on a wanted poster, which means they have committed serious crimes, and in their first appearance they'd taken over a Pokémon center, so they can't be fully incompetent. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2dhspkS
