"Using 2nd evolutions of 3-stage Pokemons more with the new prestiging system"
#PokemonGO: With the new prestiging system, I got into building a good arsenal of mid-CP range pokemon to maximize prestige gain, and I wondered, why have we never talked about 2nd evolutions of 3-stage Pokemon to do so?Parasect is known to be a beast water slayer, with its low CP range and high grass burst damage. But have we considered other options like Gloom or Weepinbell?Weepinbell with Razor Leaf/Power Whip is a just as, if not a more effective water slayer than Parasect in terms of DPS (strong grass moves coupled with its high base atk). Not only that, but it only costs 25 candies to obtain. You could raise an army of these at varying CPs to have in your arsenal.Same with Gloom, with the moves Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard. Good base stats, low CP, only 25 candies, so obtaining those movesets shouldn't be so bad.Assuming you have and are willing to spend starter candies, Wartortle (Water Gun/Hydro Pump) and Ivysaur (Vine Whip/Solar Beam) are also good options.Having more options is nice, plus I like giving my Pokemon more purpose even if they aren't the fully evolved form.TL;DR - More options opened up (or rather, they were always there but not something I saw talked about) for prestigers, like Gloom, Weepinbell, Ivysaur, Wartortle. Low-cost, low-mid CP, still effective.Edit: Since we love numbers, here are some DPS values for common grass trainers including the ones I've stated to give you an indicator of how well these can perform (compared with other known trainers). All creds to http://ift.tt/2eeURAT these take into consideration type bonus, STAB, and base stats:PokemonQuick move DPSCharge move DPSGloom (Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard)13.7925.79Ivysaur (Vine Whip/Solar Beam)13.4630.10Parasect (Bug Bite/Solar Beam)13.3331.13Tangela (Vine Whip/Solar Beam)15.3832.13Weepinbell (Razor Leaf/Power Whip)15.5137.50Of course this doesn't consider other factors like defense/HP, but as attackers I'm inclined to believe ATK is prioritized due to the battle mechanic favoring attacking over defending. In the end it comes down to preference, and personally I like variety so I plan to use all of these rather than have clones of the same Pokemon. Hope this was useful!Edit edit: Thanks to /u/vlfph for letting me know that this isn't the entire picture as it doesn't consider weaving or energy per second. But I'll still repeat the notion that these are viable alternatives especially as the new prestiging mechanic makes it a team effort, meaning we don't need the perfect trainer as long as we can bring a team and take it down together. Which, in the end, I think is true to the original spirit of Pokemon. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2exdoeR
