"I feel like we should be able to adopt the abandoned Stufful"

My apologies if this was posted before. I tried reverse searching, but no dice.I found it heartbreaking going into the motel and seeing the abandoned Stufful on route 13. I thought for sure we'd be able to adopt it after beating the game, but it disappeared.
