"Share your Halloween Event accomplishments! Here's mine :)"
#PokemonGO: Like a lot of others around here, I had a really great time during this Halloween event. Thank you to the developers, Niantic deserves some praise for this and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us in the future.I know I’m not the only one who had a busy few days of playing and I thought it would be nice to share our trophies from a few hard days of “play”.Personally, the night before the event, I buddied up for the first time with one of the two Dratini I’ve ever caught. I had been saving it for later, since I was starting with 6 Dratini candy and it seemed like such a far off possibility of getting all the rest at 1 candy per 5 km… But I dove in! I also committed to having 9 incubators going at all times during the event (even on the 2km eggs). Yes, it cost some money, but that candy bonus at hatching was too good to pass on. I also did some extra walking and a whole lot of biking at 6 mph (groan). My good fortune first struck with a 10 km egg on Saturday - out popped a Lapras! I was lucky that I already had hatched an Ice Shard / Ice Beam one from an earlier egg that stood strongly in gyms, but this one was Frost Breath / Blizzard (coming for you Dragonites!).By Sunday morning, I had my Dratini to around 50 candies (so much biking…). As I walked around the grocery store shopping, a 10 km egg pops, lo and behold, a 91% Dratini with 56 candies! I did a freakin’ dance in the freezer aisle! What the odds of this were, I don’t know, but my RNG luck in Hearthstone has never been anywhere near to this level :)After a (very slow) bike commute to work this morning, I tallied up the 125 candies I needed to evolve into Dragonair into Dragonite (Steel Wing / Dragon Claw), and the feeling of accomplishment I experienced reminded me of being a youngster the first time my best friend and I beat Ganon in Legend of Zelda... That's actually what I thought about :)In the end, this event captured my attention unlike many games in my life have. I’ve never thought, shoot, it’s 8:30pm, could I go ride around the neighborhood for an hour and tally some km’s…? Yes, if it means getting a candy every 1.25 km instead of 5!I hope everyone else had some nice successes during the event, let’s hear about them! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2fp2au9
