"Elite Four Cosmog Solo Run!"

Here's the Hall of Fame panorama!Ok, so if you have no idea how difficult doing a Cosmog solo run sounds on paper, here's Cosmog's moveset and base stats. As you can see, Cosmog has really terrible stats, and literally no moves that can hurt anything. Now to answer a few questions that some of you might be having right now...With no method of attacking, how on earth are you supposed to make anything faint?Well, there's actually a lot of ways you can deal damage without attacking moves, but the one that I relied on the most in this run is Struggle. For those who don't know, if a Pokemon can't use any of its four moves, it defaults to using a hidden move called Struggle, which has 50 BP, deals Typeless (neutral damage against all types) Physical damage, and will always take 1/4th of the user's HP as recoil damage. Sure it's a terrible move, but it's all I've got! With the addition of X-Attack and Dire Hit, damage can also be boosted by x6.Other methods include Items (such as Rocky Helmet, Sticky Barb, Berries, etc.), and even stalling out all of the opponent's PP to make them faint from their own Struggle recoil! How can you survive anything? With X-items and Eviolite, I can raise Cosmog's defenses by x6! (...given that they don't crit)Cosmog's stats? Here's Cosmog's Stats, IVs, Level, Move, and Item, and Affection! EV spread was 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def, with Impish (+Def, -SpA) nature. Reasoning for this spread is due to a specific Pokemon which will be explained later.Just... why?Well... why not? And I also always enjoy thinking of strategies for things that people would think are impossible. :)Now to be honest, this will actually be too easy if I attempted to do this with a Level 100 Cosmog (since at Level 100, you can pretty much tank anything with X-Items), so to make it a bit more exciting, I decided to do it at Level 70! (I actually initially planned to do it at Level 65, but some stuff happened...)So here's all the problems I encountered with each Elite Four member! (Click on their names for more in-depth details for each battle!)KahiliReally easy; not much to say about this one. 1 attempt.OliviaStill easy, but could've easily gone south due to Stone Edges which have a 12.5% crit chance. 1 attempt.AcerolaAll Pokemon had super-effective STAB which is almost always a guaranteed loss when anything crits, Sableye has Shadow Claw which also has a 12.5% crit chance, and Drifblim had Aftermath. 7 Attempts.HalaThis is where things get complicated. Literally all of his Pokemon gave me trouble.Hariyama is the main cause of this, as it has Knock Off. This ultimately makes me significantly more vulnerable to all of his Pokemon since I can't use Eviolite anymore, and I was forced to deal with the rest of his Pokemon with Sticky Barb. You probably have one of these in your bag, but never really paid any attention to it: Sticky Barb is an item which hurts the user by 1/8th (rounded down) of its maximum HP at the end of each turn, but if a Pokemon holding this item is hit by a contact move by a Pokemon that's not holding an item, it then immediately gets transferred to the attacker.Bewear was the one that gave me the most problems since its critty Shadow Claw had at most a 68.8% chance to OHKO Cosmog at full HP whenever it crits. It also has Fluffy and really good bulk, which meant that Struggle does almost nothing to it, forcing me to rely on Sticky Barb and just hope it doesn't crit. Hala is also guaranteed to use a Full Restore on Bewear, so I had to survive a lot of Shadow Claws. Lost a total of 8 attempts to this thing.Primape had Punishment which hit with 200 BP against Cosmog because of its stat boosts, forcing me to stall out its PP. Also, Primeape's ability is Anger Point which means that I can't attack it with the Dire Hit effect still on unless Sticky Barb brings it into KO range. (Anger Point boosts Attack by x4 when hit by a crit)Poliwrath has Payback which does double damage if it gets hit during the same turn, also forcing me to rely on Sticky Barb once again for damage.Crabominable is holding a Z-Crystal, which means that I can't pass off the Sticky Barb to it. This thing also has Stone Edge and really high Attack, which meant that all of its move had a potential to be lethal.13 attempts.KukuiI SRed specifically for Kukui to become the challenger, because his Pokemon all had a higher level than other challengers, and I thought that going against his team would've been the most interesting.Kukui's Incineroar is actually the main reason why I invested all my EVs into physical bulk, and why I decided to take on the Elite Four at Level 65+. This is because of Incineroar's signature move, Darkest Lariat, which ignores all stat boosts (most notably, the X-Defends which are the main reason why Cosmog's is still alive). Assuming that Kukui's Incineroar had maximum Attack, the lowest possible level that Cosmog is guaranteed to survive is at Level 67, with maximum HP, Defense, and perfect IVs. Of course, I had to stall it out until it ran out of PP for that move. 4 Attempts.Final Statistics:21 Losses73 Max Potions11 Full Restores49 Sitrus Berries15 X-Atk19 X-Def15 X-SpD14 X-Spe5 Dire HitNote: X-Items raise stats by 2 stages in Gen VIIHall of Fame EntryHall of Fame ManAnd that concludes the run! Thanks for reading, and I hope that you got at least something from it. :)Pew! via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2hq0kc5
