"Ghost Trial is pretty scary to an older audience"

Doing the Ghost Trial, I genuinely had the heebyjeebees. I realized it was very clever psychological horror that manages to frighten the older playerbase much more than the younger audience.Firstly, as you do the trial, you quickly notice the audio effects messing with your earphones to trick the listener into thinking they are broken. As an adult who has to buy my own stuff, some of which are quite high-end, I was panicked when it sounded like my $200-dollar earbuds were broken. Having tested on multiple earbuds, I could only conclude that it was the earphone jack itself on my 3ds that broke, and I was considerably upset. Either way, I was scared that I lost $200 dollars due to stuff breaking, whether it was my earbuds or my 3ds.As I pressed on in the trial, I reached the infamous Mimikyu room. Not only is the claustrophobia quite unsettling, but seeing all those pictures of Pikachu reminded me of a stalker's room. It was just plain creepy, and I think it's an effect which largely goes beyond the younger audience.Then turning around and seeing Mimikyu from behind, while Mimikyu itself was cute, the fridge horror that it was a stalker wearing the appearance of its obsession was really twisted.The fact itself that this is set inside an abandoned convenience store is itself creepy. I dunno, as we get older, we just find abandoned locations scary. We develop an instinct to stay away from these areas because they are forbidden.Anyway, I just have to applaud Gamefreak how creepy this is. Good job, Gamefreak! via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2fUSwiv
