"Lapras Event: Ishinomaki Pockets $207 Million"

#PokemonGO: I was finally able to find the economic impact of the first Pokémon Go event. Let's take a look at the economic impact of the Lapras event on the town of Ishinomaki, Japan.Cost of the Event: The cost of the event was $280,000 as outlined by sts_ssp here:http://ift.tt/2h3qHW1 is the cost for the entire Miyagi prefecture. Including other areas by the coast which were spawning Lapras less frequently. The cost to Ishinomaki may have been lower.Profit of the event: Today it came out that the city pulled in 20billion yen or $208 million. It also pulled in over 100,000 visitors to Ishinomaki alone. You can find that information here:http://ift.tt/2hiPr8D it's in Japanese. This pulled in people from all over the world including people such as Trainer Tips Nick and the like.Local perspective: The local perspective is still mixed. Some people I've talked to recently said that they didn't see much economically. Except for a week of crowds downtown and constant traffic jams. We don't know what they will do with this but hopefully they will continue to construct new housing to move the people out of the current temporary housing they've been living in for years. I saw city workers today fixing lights that never worked and were damaged. Many people visited the information center that has pictures of the 2011 Tsunami and hopefully these visitors went back home with a new perspective. I got to meet many awesome people who I was happy to share information about the current state of my city. Personally I thought It was great and had a great time. Here's to hoping for future events in Japan and the world. Cheers! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2hzResS
