"My Resignation as a /r/Pokemon Moderator"
Hey /r/Pokemon!I have been back and forth as of late about making the decision to resign from my position as a moderator of this subreddit, but I've finally come to the conclusion that it would be best for the team of moderators that I work with and for myself. My schedule in real life has become too busy to continue being a good moderator and I've realized it's time to start a new chapter in my life.I was 14 years old when I began moderating this subreddit. Now that I am 18, I am in the process of moving from a small town in Ohio to the big city of Los Angeles to pursue my dream of film directing. I have also been cast in a couple musicals, currently working on filming a Documentary about how music impacts mental health diseases such as Alzheimer's, finishing recording my debut album and releasing it on Spotify/Band Camp, and I am also just trying to finish up my Senior year of High School.I've had a seriously amazing 3 years moderating /r/Pokemon and I figured I would showcase some of the things that I've seen the community do!Team BlisseyThis is one of my favorite things I've seen the community do! I organized and headed Team Blissey. Team Blissey was an Extra Life game team, members would stream for 24 hours and raise money for Children's Hospitals. We raised over $500.00 and it was a really, really special thing to see happen. The Justin Flynn AMAI managed to get in contact with Justin Flynn, Pokemon World Championships Commentator, through a friend from school who is one of Pokemon's top competitors. I asked Justin if he'd like to do an AMA and he said sure! This was /r/Pokemon's first real AMA and it was a really great thing to get to see happen on the subreddit./r/Pokemon Draws PokemonThe community of /r/Pokemon came together and members of the community got individual Pokemon to draw. We completed the Pokedex together and it was seriously one of the coolest things I've seen!Creating /r/upvoteexeggutorOn Halloween this year, we hosted a Purge event, allowing pretty much anything to go that day... and holy cow did you all come up with some crazy things. But the best thing that came from it was a crazy long Exeggutor meme that just kept extending his neck and eventually made it a subreddit. I still laugh about some of the backlash we got that day./r/PokemonTurfWarsNow this one holds a truly special place in my heart. It's practically where I got started on Reddit. I remember reading a thread on /r/Pokemon about some one wanting to put together a Risk based Pokemon game through Pokemon Showdown and with the villain teams. So people in the comments volunteered as leaders. I figured why not and volunteered!I was put in charge of Team Aqua, deeming myself Captain Archie. The people I met on my Team and the times we had truly brought us together as a family and they are moments I will never ever forget. Team Aqua actually won Season 1 too, so that was neato!I saw a moderation application for /r/Pokemon shortly after being in charge of Team Aqua and figured I'd go for it and the rest is history.I've seen this community do such incredible things. We've had members draw every single Pokemon in the Pokedex daily, I've seen songs made for the subreddit, and I've seen the community come together to do some really awesome things.Thank you so much for the past three years, I would not trade them for anything. I'll still be around, just look for the Trainer Gold icon. Here's to a great new chapter! Signing off,David920 via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2id3aBr
