"No Incense Required: A visual proof from a 2km walk down a trail in a previous deadzone"

#PokemonGO: Today, I drove out to a state park that was completely devoid of pokemon until a few days ago in order to take some screenshots. Pokemon started appearing here and other similar locations after Niantic made their rural spawns announcement.I walked far enough that no map features (roads, stops, gyms) rendered on my screen before looking for pokemon.Pictured here: http://ift.tt/2hVXR6H this time, the area appears as nothing in Pokemon Go, but has shown as dark green as a result of Google Map changes in the past.Currently, it is listed as a "State park" area in Google Map Maker and shows as pale green in Google Maps as opposed to the standard spring green style colour used for many parks and golf courses. At the time of the launch of the Pokemon Go beta, the location did not render at all, it was added in an update to Google Maps in my area around June 2016. It first appeared as dark green, but changed to light green at some point after launch. In Open Street Map, at the start of Beta, the location was not listed. During beta, I added it as a "Forest". After launch, the additional property of "nature reserve" was added. This area sees significantly less foot traffic than smaller towns and suburbs which have less spawns (and more traffic, obviously). In all, 10 pokemon were captured in around 30 minutes, including a Christmas Pikachu, Staryu, Clefairy, 2 Spearow, 2 Oddish, a Bulbasaur, a male Nidoran and a Sandshrew. I also saw a Poliwag. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2h6FRtK
