"Why aren't we considering the legendary birds for December 12th?"

#PokemonGO: It seems like a lot of people are getting their hopes up for the imminent Gen 2 release. Everyone saw the Starbucks annoucement stating "Pokemon GO is about to expand with new Pokemon." (This was a Starbucks message, not a Niantic message). Isn't it much more likely these "new Pokemon" are the legendary birds? Yes, the underlying code obviously points to Gen 2 coming in the near future, but that doesn't mean December 12th or even in the next month. Releasing a new Generation only 5 months after launch would set a precedent for future Generations. Granted, there are enough Pokemon to keep the game updated for years to come, but from a marketing point of view, Niantic should be in no rush to "complete" the full 721 Pokedex (and probably more by the time PoGO catches up). Not to mention, it's not exactly a logical progression to release Gen 2 less than a month after adding Ditto, but completely skipping over the Birds, Mewtwo and Mew, which will likely be their own discrete events. I could see Gen 2 before Mew, but not before the Birds. I know Gen 2 is in the code, but it's not in the game yet and probably still won't be for awhile. Not until Niantic makes some minor text fixes. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2hcny4W
