"[Analysis] How Good Will The Gen II Branch Evolutions Be?"
#PokemonGO: Vileplume vs. BellossomBellossom: 2108 CPAtt 169Def 189HP 150Vileplume: 2367 CPAtt 202Def 170HP 150Bellossom gains an advantage in tankiness, but comparatively loses out more in attacking power. Since the CP formula favors Attack over defense (because organizing DEFENDERS in a gym by their defensive capabilities is nonsense of course), Bellossom will place lower than Vileplume in gyms. Bellossom is mono-grass type, losing the poison-typing Vileplume has mean it won’t take neutral damage from Bug and Poison attacks, but it will take neutral damage from Psychic and have a .8x resistance to Ground. Bellossom loses a .64x resistance to grass attacks, and .8x resistance to Fairy and Fighting. I expect Bellossom with the right moves could be a decent Grass-type prestiger, but it isn’t going to shake the gym meta up.Moves in PoGo that Bellossom could learn from the main series (some of these can only be learned by pre-evolutions): Razor Leaf, Leaf Blade, Petal Blizzard, Mega Drain (unassigned to any pokemon in PoGo), Hyper Beam, Sludge Bomb, Dazzling Gleam, Acid.Politoed vs. PoliwrathPolitoed: 2371 CPAtt 174Def 192HP 180Poliwrath: 2441 CPAtt 182Def 187HP 180Politoed comparatively loses more in attack than it gains in defense, but not by much. Politoed will be slightly tankier than Poliwrath, and loses the fighting-typing which made Poliwrath easy prey for Exeggutor. But due to the lower attack, and therefore lower CP, Politoed will sit lower in gyms than Poliwrath. Politoed loses the .8x resistances to Bug, Dark, and Rock. But it doesn’t have 1.25x weaknesses to Psychic, Fairy, and Flying anymore. One unique thing about Poliwrath was that it had Bubble, the most efficient fast attack move (on defense) in the game, as well as three charge moves that worked well with the fast attack animation (plus Submission got STAB). Politoed, as a mono-water type, is essentially a much weaker Vaporeon now.Moves in PoGo that Politoed could learn from the main series (some of these can only be learned by pre-evolutions): Mud Shot, Water Pulse, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Earthquake, Psychic, Brick Break, Scald, Bulldoze, Mud Bomb, Water Gun, Bubble, Hydro Pump, Body Slam.Slowbro vs. SlowkingEasy. Same stats, CP, and typing. Slowking will have to differentiate itself on moveset. There are a lot of moves they both can learn (in the main games) that are already in PoGo, so we will have to see how this turns out.Umbreon and Espeon vs. Jolteon, Flareon, and VaporeonI’m not going to list out all of the Eeveelution stats (b/c lazy), here are just the Gen II stats.Umbreon: 2052 CPAtt 126Def 250HP 190Espeon: 3000 CPAtt 261Def 194HP 130Umbreon first. It will be the only mono-dark type in the game so far. It will have the lowest attack stat yet of the Eeveelutions (so bad CP unfortunately). What it lacks in attack power, it will make up for with defensive capability, because lowkey Umbreon will be one of the tankiest Pokemon in the game. Tankiness is a measure of durability, and is simply Defense multiplied by HP. Umbreon is tankier than Wigglytuff, Cloyster (has low HP despite high defense), Golem, Dragonite, Exeggutor, Rhydon, and even Vaporeon. Umbreon falls just shy of Lapras. Umbreon’s typing also is solid defensively. It hard counters Psychic (finally) and Ghost, and is weak to types mostly devoid of powerful attackers like Fairy, devoid of powerful moves like Fighting (sorry Machamp, but Karate Chop sucks, Hitmonlee is better now), or with many frail attackers like Bug (Heracross and Scizor could be trouble tho, and Pinsir if you have bug or fighting movesets). Umbreon is the new Wigglytuff, low on CP but hardier than it may seem. Now for Espeon. Espeon is going to be an offensive monster. The same attacking power as Gengar, but with more a bit more bulk than either Gengar or Alakazam. If you live in Eevee land (I do), then you will probably have a much easier time producing a quality Espeon than either Gengar or Alakazam. If it receives gets Zen Headbutt/Psychic, shit is going to get real. Flareon also has a high attack stat, but Ember is such a weak move (Flareon has Machamp Syndrome). Zen Headbutt is stronger than Ember, and will allow Espeon’s attack stat to shine. Espeon will be a dodge specialist like Gengar and Alakazam (but at what is probably going to be 25 candies, much easier to produce). You can expect a flood of these in gyms as well because of that high CP.Eeveelutions thus far have only learned STAB moves in PoGo, the trend could continue into Gen II, but the problem is there is only one charge dark type move (Dark Pulse) that Umbreon could learn from the main games (it can’t learn Night Slash). via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2jfsGai
