"Casual training tip: sometimes less than 1000 prestige per match is just fine too"

#PokemonGO: So, I've noticed there have been a lot of threads lately about CP efficiency, training against more common defenders, etc. Lately, one of my more recent goals has been to earn the gold Ace Trainer badge. To accomplish that, I've been working at adding prestige to gyms I've recently taken. I understand this tip is fairly limited in its application, but I figure a good number of players could benefit from it.When I train a gym I've recently taken, I train it with a mon that will level it up in three matches. I do this for three reasons (aside from more credit toward the badge):1) It allows for three teammates to add their mons to the gym, instead of two. 2) If opposing team players reach the gym before teammates get to it, they'll have to beat the defender three times to clear the gym, instead of once or twice. Basically, a little more defense. 3) I don't have that many mons that can level up the gym in just two matches. The discovery in this tactic is this: to accomplish both 1 and 2, I don't need a mon that will earn me 1000 prestige per match. Even if you're earning 1000 prestige per match, you're still going to have to train the gym 3 times for reason #2 to work, the same number as if you were to train with a mon that would earn you more than 667 but less than 1000 prestige. What does this mean? Well, chances are you have a lot more mons than you realize that will suit this task. While they may not be less than half the CP of the defender you want to train against, they still probably do the job just fine. I've been pleasantly surprised at some of the mons I have that used to just sit and gather dust that turn out to be pretty good for training. Some examples: ~1500CP ZH/EQ Tauros vs 2100+ CP Gengars ~1500CP Vaporeon vs ~2800CP Rhydon 1600CP MS/EQ Sandslash vs 2300-2500CP SnorlaxesFor those of you looking to get that gold Ace Trainer badge, I hope this helps!TL;DR - Pokemon that don't quite add 1000 prestige still work pretty well for training, and you probably have a lot more of those than you realize. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jKN56z
