"[Discussion] The Upcoming Evolution Items"
#PokemonGO: First off, I would like to submit that I am not certain we have a clear evolution method with the new items. There seems to be a presumption that the items will replace the candies required. This might not be the case. It could just as well be that A) the same general candy amount will be needed or B) a comparatively reduced candy amount may be required. Both of those are in addition to using the item. Secondly, there are still Pokemon that will evolve without an item and even branch. Crobat and Blissey should evolve just through candy, just as the baby Pokemon are already doing (all need friendship to evolve). Eevee already branches and might get a special case for the new Eeveelutions. I'm just hoping Eevee does not become a 1 in 4 chance (3 classics then the 4th is either Espeon or Umbreon by time of day). Basically, we know that they are still altering evolution methods to be candy-based instead of anything special. Lastly, the point that baffles me. Why are these items there at all? Some make some sense to explain why they evolve, such as the Metal Coat, but other items don't seem necessary. You might argue they are to simplify the choice of a branch evolution but A) one branch already exists in Eevee and B) a new one (technically) will be added without any item to facilitate it. This is extremely confused by the Sun Stone. The Sun Stone. We have skipped all the stones before and yet we are adding one for Gen 2. One that currently can do two things: evolve a branch (Bellossom) and evolve Sunkern. Sunkern has the 2nd lowest base stat total in the original games (Wishiwashi now has it beat in Gen 7). In other words, this stone can evolve something decent and also something abysmal. Imagine needing one of these (likely) rare items to evolve Caterpie. I.... I just don't get it. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jWQgpq
