"Had a random thought about the Strange Souvenir"

(**note: this is pure speculation! if you prefer more factual discussions, this mightn't be for you) And I admit, the Souvenir was probably just an easter egg back in XY, but since it has returned I can see it getting a purpose in future games.We know that when pokémon breed, their offspring will be the variant of the region they were born in. Unless you give the foreign parent an everstone.But how would you go about getting an Alolan variant when you're outside the Alola region? I'm specifically thinking about pokémon like cubone and exeggcute which evolve differently depending on the region they're in, regardless of parentage. Maybe, when used outside Alola, the Strange Souvenir (as a held item) could quite literally "remind" the pokémon of the region and trigger their Alolan evolution instead. Especially since the souvenir is in a way liked to the spiritual energy of the islands .(It's literally a souvenir of Alola. it would be vaaaguely like in HGSS, how playing "Hoenn Sound/Sinnoh Sound" on the radio triggered those regions' pokémon to appear. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2iR6DTY
