"[story] Lapras Hunting Expedition"

#PokemonGO: I invited myself to a Lapras hunting expedition this last weekend. I had just met a level 37 player, Tom, on Friday the 13th, who happened to mention that he was planning on going to a city that has, on average, 11 Lapras spawns a day.I was skeptical of those numbers at first, but Tom hooked me up with some tracker apps and I was able to see for myself that what he said was fairly accurate. It was very exciting to me because it took me three months to catch my first Lapras, and then caught my second Lapras a week later. Since then, nothing.Being a mostly solo player, I have slowly built up a small friend group of PoGo players and I asked if anybody was interested in going. The Lapras hunting party wound up being a party of 3:Tom - level 37, city player, 150+ Snorlax catchesMary - level 33, suburban player, 25 Snorlax catchesMyself - level 34, city player - 5 Snorlax catchesWe decided on Wednesday night to leave on Thursday after work. I was able to work remotely on Friday, where both of them had a federal holiday. There was some nervousness due to the new update, and also the server crash. It seems that when the server crashes some spawn points are changed. We decided to go anyway. It was a very intense weekend of hunting. We met three other groups of people that also drove to the city to hunt for Lapras, and so wound up caravaning from spawn to spawn. We even convinced the people that run the trackers for that city to not turn it off as they normally would during certain hours, and pulled an all nighter to make sure that we didn't miss anything. The trackers were a bit spotty due to the new update, and different trackers showed some spawns that other trackers didn't pick up on. There were also a few times where we had to stand hopelessly in the street and stare at the location of the rare spawn on what turned out to be private property.Anyways, we "only" caught 5 Lapras this weekend. We also caught:3 Muk4 Chansey7 Dragonite19 SnorlaxMuk and Chansey were also the first time I had ever caught them in the wild!tl;dr - Lapras spawn in some places semi-regularly! It's exciting to travel to a different city to hunt specifically form them! It felt like a knock-off Lapras event.Would you have gone on a Lapras hunting expedition? What pokemon would you be willing to travel for? How far would you be willing to travel? via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2jRooWm
