"Training against Gyarados, CP efficiency"

#PokemonGO: If you've already read my thread Training against Snorlax, CP efficiency, skip to the next section on Gyarados.IntroductionThe spreadsheets from Professor_Kikui, qmike, and dneal12 and various infographics you may have seen around here are based on performance at the same level, e.g. how a level 30 Wartortle performs versus a level 30 Vaporeon. They show that Vaporeon is much stronger. For training/prestiging a gym, CP is essential, as the amount of prestige gained depends on the CP of your attackers. For example, a team of 1100 CP attackers against a 2200 CP defender nets 1000 prestige. (See my other thread: 1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficient)At 1100 CP, Vaporeon is around level 12, while a Wartortle is around level 30. When these two Pokemon are at the same CP, Wartortle is actually slightly stronger. The most important stat for choosing Pokemon to train a gym is CP efficiency, a Pokemon's strength per CP. In the below tables, I've listed CP efficiency as a percentile, relative to the best Pokemon for that defender's moveset other than Chansey. Since Chansey takes so long to battle and can time out, I don't want to skew the percentiles by basing them on her.All calculations assume you dodge only charge attacks. You can adjust this yourself in the spreadsheet.GyaradosAvg - Weighted average of CP efficiency against all the movesets. Weights are based on the A-F defender ratings from GamePress. Bite / Dragon Pulse, the best moveset, has a weight of 5 while the other two movesets, have a weight of 4. At least for Gyarados, weighted average is not much different from simple average.DPS - Damage per second as a percentile relative to the best performerMax CP - Max CP at level 30The below columns represent the CP efficiency against each of Gyarados's movesets:HP - Bite / Hydro PumpDP - Bite / Dragon PulseT - Bite / TwisterThe legacy movesets with Dragon Breath were not included, as they're rarely encountered.Pro tip: you can sort columns by clicking on the headerpokemonbasicchargeavgdpshpdptmax cpChanseyPoundHyper Beam163%26%173%158%158%1,259ChanseyPoundPsychic130%21%139%127%127%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttHyper Beam129%21%138%126%126%1,259ChanseyPoundDazzling Gleam119%19%127%115%115%1,259ChanseyPoundPsybeam119%19%127%115%115%1,259ChanseyZen HeadbuttPsychic106%17%113%102%102%1,259JigglypuffPoundBody Slam100%48%100%100%100%611WigglytuffPoundHyper Beam94%55%94%94%94%1,634JigglypuffPoundPlay Rough93%45%93%93%93%611VoltorbSparkThunderbolt91%76%97%88%88%734ChanseyZen HeadbuttDazzling Gleam91%15%97%88%88%1,259ElectrodeSparkThunderbolt89%77%95%86%86%1,628OnixRock ThrowStone Edge89%43%82%91%91%859RaichuSparkThunder86%86%92%83%83%1,735PikachuThunder ShockThunder84%81%90%82%82%675ElectabuzzThunder ShockThunder84%81%90%82%82%1,882ChanseyZen HeadbuttPsybeam84%14%89%81%81%1,259WigglytuffPoundPlay Rough84%49%84%84%84%1,634RaichuThunder ShockThunder83%83%88%80%80%1,735ZapdosThunder ShockThunder82%83%88%80%80%2,854OnixRock ThrowRock Slide82%39%76%84%84%859PikachuThunder ShockThunderbolt81%79%87%79%79%675ElectabuzzThunder ShockThunderbolt81%79%87%79%79%1,882ClefairyPoundMoonblast81%42%81%81%81%930JolteonThunder ShockThunder81%85%86%78%78%2,340ZapdosThunder ShockThunderbolt80%80%85%77%77%2,854JigglypuffFeint AttackBody Slam79%38%79%79%79%611JolteonThunder ShockThunderbolt78%82%83%76%76%2,340WigglytuffFeint AttackHyper Beam77%45%77%77%77%1,634ClefairyPoundBody Slam77%40%77%77%77%930RaichuSparkThunder Punch77%77%82%75%75%1,735JigglypuffFeint AttackPlay Rough77%37%77%77%77%611JigglypuffPoundDazzling Gleam77%37%77%77%77%611DewgongFrost BreathBlizzard77%43%86%72%72%1,624JigglypuffPoundDisarming Voice76%37%76%76%76%611VoltorbSparkDischarge76%64%81%74%74%734OnixTackleStone Edge75%36%70%78%78%859ClefablePoundMoonblast75%45%75%75%75%2,017LickitungLickHyper Beam75%39%80%73%73%1,133ElectabuzzThunder ShockThunder Punch75%72%80%73%73%1,882DewgongIce ShardBlizzard75%42%84%71%71%1,624ElectrodeSparkDischarge74%65%79%72%72%1,628RaichuThunder ShockThunder Punch74%74%79%72%72%1,735OnixTackleRock Slide74%35%68%76%76%859LaprasFrost BreathBlizzard73%44%83%69%69%2,555MagnemiteSparkThunderbolt73%100%73%73%73%929MoreFairy types such as Wigglytuff and Clefable resist dark (Bite) and dragon attacks (Dragon Pulse, Twister).Chansey is highly effective, but will take a long time to battle.Jigglypuff is the best, after Chansey, but its low Max CP at level 30 of 611 makes her rarely useful. But if you have a few 500+ CP Jigglypuff, it may be worthwhile to save them for those rare occasions when you need to train against 1000-1200 CP defenders. This is also true of other first stage evolutions such as Onix, Voltorb, and Pikachu.Wigglytuff is practically the best, after excluding Chansey and Jigglypuff, but she will also take more time to battle than the higher DPS electric types.Electrode is the best electric—who would've guessed?! Raichu, Electabuzz, Jolteon follow closely behind. Magneton is quite poor at 67%, and doesn't make the cutoff for this table, but you can see it and all the other Pokemon on the spreadsheet.SpreadsheetView only, or make a copyIncludes full list of all Pokemon attackers, and more defenders (work in progress).PokebattlerI simulated some battles (spreadsheet) using /u/celandro's Pokebattler.DefenderAttackerAttackerAttackerGyaradosElectrodeWigglytuffChanseyBasicBiteSparkPoundPoundChargeDragon PulseThunderboltHyper BeamHyper BeamCP2600129913001113HP28887196371StrategyDodge SpecialsDodge SpecialsDodge SpecialsWinYesYesYesDamage received62114135Att HP remain2582236Att HP remain %29%42%64%Time (seconds)31.036.876.1Prestige100010001000Prestige/s32.2627.1713.14Prestige/damage16.138.777.41Power140.3%173.1%288.2%Victories*68.4210.3917.29High DPS attackers like Electrode are more time-efficient and potion-efficient (they receive less damage, which require fewer potions to heal). But Wigglytuff only takes 5.8 seconds longer, which is respectable. Chansey, however, takes more than twice as long.Power is a Pokebattler result that "represents how many times a Pokemon would kill another. 250% means it would kill it 2 times and then die half way through the 3rd attempt."Victories*6 multiples Power by 6, and represents how many defenders you would defeat if you had an attacking team of 6. Of course in real life, the defenders will get progressively harder, and you might run into a Snorlax. But if 6 Wigglytuffs can defeat 5 defenders while 6 Electrodes and other high DPS attackers can only defeat 4 defenders, then Wigglytuff might be the more time-efficient option. This requires further analysis.CreditsThis is based on /u/vlfph's excellent CP efficiency v4 spreadsheet, using the Target Input sheet. All the credit should go to him; I'm simply repackaging his work in a more digestible format. Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous thread, Training against Snorlax, CP efficiency.ConclusionI look forward to feedback. I'm currently working on other popular defenders like Lapras, Vaporeon, Exeggutor, Rhydon. I'll take your comments into consideration before I publish those results.See alsoTraining against Snorlax, CP efficiency1000 prestige/battle is most time- and potion-efficientEdit 1: Fixed Hydro Pump numbers; accidentally copied from Dragon Pulse. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2ivN3ft
