#PokemonGO: My theory as to why Gen 2 is taking so long is because Niantic may be planning on a large game and features overhaul for the upcoming update.Think about it. A lot of major games have huge content updates that include much more than what normal updates contain. This includes added features, UI reworks, system changes, optimizations, and more improvements to the game and framework.What if Gen 2 is taking awhile is that Niantic is actively working on adding new functions and complexity to the game? Rather than just saying "Here's gen 2!" and not adding anything else, they probably are going to add huge changes to the way the game is played.More store items Better Egg system (More Egg types? (Gen1 / gen2 specific eggs) More customization Social features, including Trading Breeding Pokémon Centers EtcHopefully when Gen 2 comes out, the game experience will also change drastically. This may be why it is taking longer than expected to push this content. Major overhauls may be in the works, and Gen 2 may be a huge content update, rather than just a dump of new Pokémon.Of course, have zero proof of any of this.
