"[Story] Something Amazing Happened to Me Today When Battling A Gym"

#PokemonGO: I'm currently visiting my family in a fairly small town in the UK with very few gyms around. When I was walking to meet a friend I saw a level 3 rival gym on the same path I was walking along (I live in a big city now so a level 3 gym was a refreshing sight).When I got to the gym I stood near a bench just off of the footpath so I wasn't obstructing other pedestrians and looked around to see if anyone was nearby that could possibly take it down quickly as I wanted to try and hold 2 or 3 gyms for my coin bonus. There was a fairly elderly couple walking in my direction with phones in their hands. I thought to myself they must just be looking for directions or something like that. I started to battle the gym when the lady approached me and asked "what colour are you?". I was a bit puzzled and assumed they couldn't possibly be talking about my team colour as I wrongly jumped to conclusions as everyone I've encountered playing thus far was around my age. "In Pokemon Go?" I replied; to just make sure that was what she was asking. The lady responded with "yeah, we are team blue and was hoping you was too so we could train this up together".We started talking about our experiences with the game and they were both telling me they had recently retired and their son introduced them to the game. They play it everyday together to get exercise and it gives them something to do with their days. They even told me they set alarms for when they can cash out their gym bonus coins and got up at 6am this morning to do so!We spoke for around 5-10 minutes just comparing Pokemon and talking about good nests around the area. I timed out of the first gym battle as I was so surprised to be talking to them about the game I forgot I was battling. I told them I was planning on getting 2-3 gyms today for the coins, as the gyms where I live are all level 10 and full of Blissey's. They jokingly assured me it wouldn't happen as they would take them back from me straight away. I accepted defeat and dropped my 15CP Wartortle in the gym so I could collect my coins and they could easily take control of the gym and add it to their collection for the day.This whole scenario was so surreal to me as I have never been approached asking what team I am in Pokemon Go. They were such a lovely couple and you could see how much joy the game brings to them. Things like this is why I love playing Pokemon Go! via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2lYoOLC
