"I think that many players forget or don't know what Niantic's vision of the game is"
#PokemonGO: I think a lot of people don't fully understand what the vision of Pokemon GO is when they either complain about some aspects of the game or come up with new ideas to improve the game. What many people need to understand is that Pokemon GO is an augmented reality game. This is what Niantic time and time leads back to and what they build the game around. Niantic wants the game to resemble real life as much as possible. They want the player to feel immersed in the universe like it's a sort of alternative life. This is also why when Niantic makes some of the changes like Eevees no longer hatching from 10k eggs, they don't just simply say "hey guys, we've change the codes so that Eevees hatch from 5k eggs now." Instead they write "Professor willow discovered that...." They want to keep this atmosphere that the game is a universe, an alternative reality that you are living in and roleplaying. Even something as subtle as referring to all the players as "Trainers". It could just be a fun way for Niantic to address us and they might not have put more thought into it than that, but it could also be a conscious choice from their side to keep this roleplaying going as if we are the trainers in this alternative reality. When you think about new ideas for the game, you have to think to yourself, would this make sense for an "alternative life"? Sure having a guide in the game that tells you the color of the rings depending on the ball type and razzberry would be convenient and help a lot, but in real life, would such a thing naturally exist? It wouldn't. However what would exist in real life would be a user made guide created by one or more ambitious players. And I think that resources like The Silph Road is exactly what Niantic had envisioned for this game. Not to serve the info about the game to us players on a silverplate but to have us players ourselves research the game, come up with theories and hypotheses, and try to verify them. Sure, Niantic could have just come out and said that curveballs give you a better chance at catching a pokemon, but then they would be moving away from this augmented reality vision of theirs and that is obviously not what they want. They want us players to discover these things on our own just like we would have to in the real world.I think it's worth keeping this in mind. While your ideas make sense and would make the game easier for you, you have to ask yourself, would this idea align with Niantic's vision of an augmented reality? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mRXK2j
