#PokemonGO: I understand that this sub is about analysis but the posts where people think there's been a minor change to the random aspects of the game is getting out of hand. I'm talking about posts such as:Anyone else getting a slight uptick in 5k eggs lately?Anyone else notice that potion drops have been on the rise?I never even SAW a Lapras until the Lapras event in Tokyo, and I just hatched one! Lapras spawns on the rise!These are absurd. As animals, our behavior of looking for patterns in the environment has been selected because it ensured our survival. However, it often leads to a TON of false positives... meaning where we notice that two changes in the environment happen at the same time so we believe that they are related even when they aren't. So you get things like, "Well they just updated, and since the update I'm pretty sure I've gotten one or two more 10k eggs than I normally do!"If you look at the changes Niantic has implemented, they've all been massive. CP calculation changes that moved Lapras down by close to 1000 points. Ditto spawning from commons. An overhaul of what Gen 1 pokemon spawned from what eggs.Every single one of these happened instantaneously, and EVERYONE experienced RIGHT AWAY. Like, within minutes. And they were obvious too. No one was thinking, "hmmm... I'm not totally sure if this minor event just happened". It stood out, was reported within probably seconds of it occurring.Yet somehow we get crap like, "I'm sure Niantic spawns specific eggs based on location.
