"Shiny Rate (Data Wanted)"

#PokemonGO: Lets try to put together an estimate of the current rate of Magikarp being Shiny.This should give a pretty accurate number with enough responses.Please reply with 2 bits of information:How many shiny Magikarp have you caught? (Incl zero)How many Magikarp have you caught since the event started?I'll periodically tally the responses throughout the day.Running tally:61 in 13868 (12:38 utc 3/25)Estimated Rate:1 in 227 Karp are ShinyIf there is any pattern emerging, its that there is/was a really high chance of getting a shiny in your first 25-50 Karp after the event start. After that, it seems the odds drop dramatically. It could partially be bias of the group self selecting though (those that caught a shiny are more apt to chime in, and/or those that haven't but have caught A LOT of Karp). There are way more people that have caught one in their first 25 than you'd expect when the odds are in the 1 in 200 range, and very few people have caught 2 (only two responders thus far, out of well over 100). via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2neI59T
