"[Idea] The Nest Atlas could include a Biome Atlas"
#PokemonGO: So i have been a biome researcher in my area for a while now and have been trying to figure out how best to present the information. Sadly though, my research leads to conclusions that really only help where i live but i have been thinking that if we can get TSR community on-board for help, then we can biome map the world! So my idea is that we can use the Nest Atlas as a starting point for a Biome Atlas. Basically, it would rely on people formulating biome areas for your town/city (OSM is a good starting point), and then adding a list of spawns that regularly appear to that area. So if you see a lot of growlithe, you record a general area where you have encountered a growlithe and list the biome as "desert" for instance. I am aware that there may be multiple "desert" biome types as I've read in a few other biome research posts, but lets start small. As more people post their spawns in the area in question, the biome area becomes more refined (basically a line of best fit for spawns) until a unified list of regularly spawning pokemon is defined which then defines the area. Then we use the top 6-10 regular pokemon to define the area as a biome type. The edge of the area doesnt need to be specific but the closer to the centre of the area you go, the more likely you will be to see the pokemon you are hunting*.I think this has many benefits for those of you who are seeking a few different pokemon here and there to finish your dex's, as it can identify areas to hunt when either a nest is not available or the pokemon you are hunting does not nest. It's just another way to get the community engaged and to help fellow traveller's in Pokemon Go.Let me know what you think and i'm happy for suggestions.I'm trying to work up a prototype based on my local area, so i'll post something more on this in the future! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2qclYSL
