"Just had the most satisfying POGO experience of my life."
#PokemonGO: There is a gym a block away from my house that is hotly contested, and although it gets flipped around a lot, I do the best that I can to defend it. I was at home with the app open, powering up a Pokemon that I'm working on, and I noticed that the gym had the attack animation on top. The gym was still at 52000/50000, so I must have caught them RIGHT at the beginning. As I frequently do, I immediately tossed on some shoes and walked over to try to slow them down via prestiging, as that resistance sometimes discourages people enough for them to move elsewhere.By the time I was out of the house and walking, the gym was at 49000, and the attack animation stopped for lot longer than I expected, and I realized that this wasn't the ordinary attack that I was used to. My Pokemon was at the bottom of the gym, so it had just been knocked out and returned to me. But sure enough, before I even got there, the gym was halfway prestiged back up to ten. I really dislike when people steal spots away from their fellow teammates, and in this case the spot was stolen specifically from me, so I decided to pop a max revive on my Pokemon and keep walking towards the gym to "defend" it from friendly-fire. When I got there, I sat on the steps next to the Gym, and there was a running car parked right in front of me, with a dude in it. When it was level 10 again, I popped in the exact same Pokemon that he had just knocked out, placing it right back where it was at the bottom. I took hours of time knocking down the opposing-color level-10 all-Blissey gym that was there a few days ago before this one, so I felt like I deserved to have a spot in it.I looked at the guy in the car waiting to see how he would react. He looked up at me and we held eye contact for a solid three seconds. I kindof thought that staring face-to-face at the human that he had stolen a spot from would make him realize that it was kindof a dirty move, and encourage him to move on, whether out of added difficulty or guilt. But he just kindof angrily shook his head and hopped right back over to his alt account to knock my Pokemon out again. I just shrugged and looked back down at my phone screen. Final exams ended yesterday, and I have all day.The process resumes. He knocks the gym down to 49000. There's a pause while he switches back to his other account. He prestiges it up. It hits level 10. I pop my Pokemon back in where it came from. He looks up again and flips me the bird. I just asked him, "Why do you have to cheat?" He shook his head and drove off. I walked home feeling super duper triumphant, having defended my slot. The story isn't a PERFECTLY happy one, because as I was typing this, on the overworld map I watched him come back and slide himself in while I wasn't there. But I guess that doesn't come without its benefits, because now at least I know the username of the dude I interacted with, and can remember who he is whenever I see that name around town.TL;DR: Was physically at a gym while somebody was trying to chip/shave my Pokemon out of the bottom. Kept popping the exact same Pokemon in. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2pEFvyh
