"[Story] I've kinda just had enough now"
#PokemonGO: I've been playing Pokemon GO since launch, and bar a small break after last year's Halloween event (got my Gengar and said "cyaaa" to the game) I've played pretty much non-stop. My ultimate goal has always been to complete my gen 1 Dex. I'm level 29 and currently need 4 Pokemon (Machamp, Kabutops, Snorlax and Aerodactyl) to finish my European set. I play every day and tend to use my watch to help walk some KM at work, I also make sure I drive to my nearest Pokestop once a day as there aren't any on my usual daily routes. However, last night I came to a realisation. I really don't want to leave the house at 11pm because I'll miss my daily streak count.Last night was the first time since I started replaying that I've sat there and just thought "I don't want to be doing this anymore." I love Pokemon Go, but I really don't think the game is actually very fun. My biggest gripe at the moment is the arbitrary difficulty Niantic employ. In almost a year of playing ive still never seen a Snorlax or Aerodactyl, yet locals gyms are full of them. I walk eggs and buy eggs with gym coins (or occasionally real money) but I'm growing increasingly frustrated with that mechanic too - Niantic charging 50 pence to hatch a random Pokemon doesn't seem like an awful deal, but when the same things pop up over and over again it's just demoralising. I paid for 3 incubators last week and hatched 3 baby Pokemon in a row....that's not what I spent ,y money for. This silliness extends to the pokestops which seemingly only give you items you need. 4 weeks of pokestops 7 day bonuses and spinning virtually every day since launch - I STILL haven't got half the upgrade items. Rather than give me the metal coat I need I've got half a dozen of the same one I had in the first week. I know it's all random...but it's not really is it. The game clearly uses your history and inventory to gauge what to give you, there are far too many stories of people coincidentally finding that elusive Pokemon in an egg minutes after catching a wild one after months of no luck. Finally, I'm really tired of what the game forces you to give up. I've certainly walked a lot more than I ever would have normally - no complaints there. However, my phone is being destroyed by this game. When I play regularly I'm charging it 3 times a day! I went out recently and didn't open the app for a whole day, my phone had 30% juice left after calls/messages/Internet and over 24 hours of no charge. I'm in the car and instead of putting some music on, I'm keeping half an eye on an app in case some silly new pixels decide they're ready to appear. This has kind of turned into a rant, I apologise for that. I guess I'm just tired of it at this point. The fun of collecting them all has evaporated and now I'm just forcing myself to play something I don't enjoy (and that negatively impacts my day to day business). I never quit easily, I hate giving up before a job is done. I want Snorlax and Aerodactyl, but I can't say with any certainty that I'll even get them.Anyway, that's my story. If you read it all, well done. You've got some sticking power. I'm not expecting anything from this post. Just wanted to air my grievances with some people who understand the game and hopefully my feelings. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2pAXMcz
