"Old Article, New Theory: Pokébank and Expanded Pokémon Storage"
#PokemonGO: So, I was thinking about ways that Niantic could reasonably expand the storage from 1000 without having to completely redesign the Pokémon Storage page and I remembered this article mentioning a Pokémon Go icon appended to the symbols section of the Pokémon summary page. They also mentioned Wonder Card text being datamined related to Pokémon Go. This leads me to believe that rather than expanding the in-game storage (at least for now) they could add Pokébank support to the game. What is Pokébank? Well, in the main series Pokémon games you have a computer that you can store your Pokémon in, sorted by boxes of 30 with different titles, backgrounds, groupings, etc.. The games only allow you to use 32 boxes (960 Pokémon) but Nintendo offers a cloud hosting service called Pokébank (~$5 a year) that upgrades this potential to a whopping 3000. The cool thing about it is that you can access the bank from any compatible Pokémon game (X/Y/S/M) or even transfer Pokémon from the digital versions of the Gameboy games. It is currently only available on the 3DS but there is no reason the service couldn't be adapted to work on Mobile. So you can probably see where this is going: syncing your Nintendo account with Pokémon Go could potentially be a way of storing excess monsters that you won't need for a while (like my multiple wonders of each base monster). Not only that but transfering monsters to the Pokébank earns Pokémiles, an in-game currency that can be converted to Battle Points to buy items for online ranked battles. The ability to earn miles by walking to catch monsters in real life is incredibly flavorful and adds connectivity between the different games. What do you travelers think? Is the barrier to entry (having a Nintendo account and $5) too high? Too many steps involved? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2qihF76
