"Shadowbanned is good, but how about "No Revives from Pokestops" as well?"

#PokemonGO: It might be a good solution in combination with the "soft touch" shadowbanning of flagged accounts to help address botting down of gyms.A lot of the accounts that are used to bot a gym down to grey, already have their team's of high-level pokemon. So while stopping them from seeing rare spawns will inhibit future progression and new accounts, it doesn't clean up the damage that has already been done.If the plan is eventually to just ban the accounts, then problem solved. But if the approach is "soft touch" at first on an account for a few months, then by stopping flagged accounts from being able to receive revives/max revives from pokestops will solve the gym botting problem.Eventually the gym botters would just run out of pokemon to use. Yes false-positives are going to have a hard time to keep fighting gyms, but I think this would help with the existing bot accounts still actually being usable for clearing gyms.EDIT: I mean, it will be hilarious when Niantic do a CP/moveset update and all Pokémon get revived, but one thing at a time :DEDIT: I'm just adding in some logic from my reply below. It seems like the least intrusive way to impede gym botting without completely killing people hit with false positives. We can take the implementation of the shadowban to mean that Niantic want to address problems without just undertaking blanket bans without giving people a chance to respond if they have accidenlty been hit.So if you consider someone as being hit with the shadowban accidentally:No gyming at all = harshNo items from pokestops = harshNo revives from pokestops = pretty annoying, but less harshIt solves the issue of existing bot accounts with massive armies, the least harshly. It also solves future issues with bot accounts made up of armies of non-rares.I would also propose that the removal of being able to use the store for shadowbanned accounts could be replaced with the "no revives" change. It's actually a bit odd, as if the intent is to stop Gym botters using their ill-gotten coins, I can't really see this having any effect as a deterrent. The only real thing worth buying is incubators, and if you have no revives then your fresh mons won't last long anyway. Sure you can get loads of lures but I've never found them very useful.Yes powering up revives, but it is going to burn a lot of stardust and eventually hit a cap, either Pokémon or Player capThe current shadowban has no effect on existing bots used to take down gyms. It also doesn't affect future bots being flagged after they have got to a certain point. The only thing that would stop bots taking gyms would beno gym interactionor no way to revive multiple Pokémon quickly. One is less harsh to people caught accidentally. The only flaw would be if the bot accounts can somehow work out the scripting to be able to like "stop half-way" and either swap attacker or leave the fight. But we have all experienced the randomness of gym battles, eventually your Pokémon will be fainted. No idea if it will affect bubble-strat, but it may, again randomness of gym battles. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2qiPCVr
