"Wouldn't phasing out PTC accounts knock off a chunk of the bots/spoofers?"

#PokemonGO: It seems Niantic is spending a ton of time fighting bots/spoofers. I would much rather they be spending that time improving the game, but bots/spoofers are a problem and need to be dealt with. It seems to me that one root of the bot/spoof problem is the existence of PTC logins. If I understand it correctly, the millions of bot accounts that are created are all PTC accounts. If PTC was phased out, and only Google accounts were allowed (force current PTC users to migrate to a Google account to continue playing), then a huge portion of the bot/spoofing would disappear overnight, and the rest would slowly decline.Yes, this is not a silver bullet, and I am sure there will be plenty of "but this won't prevent xyz" replies, but as far as the 80/20 rule, this seems like low hanging fruit that could be easily taken care of.As far as PTC accounts, and the possible benefits of having one (which were speculated but haven't appeared yet), you could still allow each PoGo account to tie to one PTC account after the PoGo account is created, but the Google account would still be the login credentials for the PoGo account.(Edit) To clarify, the reason Google accounts would be better than PTC is that PTC accounts can be created by the thousands automatically. Google and other similar Single Sign On systems are not scriptable as PTC is. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2qVRhnP
