"Is Google's "Activity Recognition" the root cause of PoGo randomly going blank?"
#PokemonGO: http://ift.tt/2r4hyfV wondering more on what's causing it after being unresolved this long and noticing, on Android at least, Niantic uses the "activity recognition" permission/API, I found an app to monitor and log what Google's activity recognition API is outputting. Since this relies on certain sensors in a phone to determine activity and thinking under the assumption Niantic uses this as either a fallback or secondary means to confirm current activity before blanking out Pokemon to catch.I didn't use a vehicle at any point during the test in the screenshot but it logged 2 minutes in a vehicle/driving and 3 minutes walking; the N/A is running detection. The short test was going outside and walking for approximately 5 minutes around my block. I'm really wondering if either something is bugged in the activity recognition API or it's sensors going bad in the phone causing bad data to feed into the API and in turn, PoGo reads it and makes assumptions in favor of this over a GPS check.Edit: Too important to put in my reply below. Had to go to the store which is a 5-7 minute drive. Screenshot before I leave, after exiting store, when PoGo blanked out while in the parking lot and then the driving time going up 2 minutes after they reappear. When I hadn't actually started driving yet. http://ift.tt/2seFaDh May be coincidental but I'm leaning towards my idea having some validity. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2se5yxc
