When Emerald was announced, it released for the GBA despite the DS being out at the time. When Black 2 and White 2 were released, the 3DS was out despite the games being for the DS. History repeats itself yet again with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon being for the 3DS even though the Switch is out. Even though many will say this was easy to predict, many rumors made it cloudier than it needed to be. Nintendo never makes a Generation that crosses platforms.FireRed and LeafGreen were for the GBA. HeartGold and SoulSilver were for the DS. OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire were for the 3DS. It's clear that Nintendo only releases remakes when a new console is out, which is why we didn't get Diamond and Pearl remakes, that would be for the Switch, that would be for Gen 8.The Switch has high demand and will likely sell as well as the GameBoy, DS, and 3DS, despite this, Nintendo revealed it is having trouble gaining parts for it, explaining the shortages.The 3DS is not dead yet. The final version of it, the New 2DS XL, (too long. I'll call it Ted.) is retailing for 150 USD. At such a cheap price, it is likely to sell well.With Ted out, it is likely that the other variants of the 3DS will end production so focus can be on the Switch.One final thing to note is the set of games per Generation. Gen 1 had 2, Red/Blue and Yellow. Gen 2 had 2 as well, Gold/Silver and Crystal. All Gens but 3 and 4 had this number, those Gens had 3 due to then having a Main Game, Remake, and a Variant Game. I predict Nintendo wanted only 2 sets per Gen, and changed it in Gen 5.With all this in mind, here are my predictions.Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be the last games in Gen 7, as there would be 2 game sets in Gen 7 as of it's release, a Main Game and a Variant.Gen 8 will be composed of 2 Game Sets. A Main Game, and a Remake. The Main Game will be whatever, but the Remake will be PrefixDiamond and PrefixPearl.Gen 8 will be for the Switch, if that wasn't obvious enough.All other 3DS models will be killed soon. Ted will be killed sometime 2018.Lastly, there will be 2 Gens per console, and one of them will have a Main Game and a Variant while the other had a Main Game and a Remake....Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.
