A power, or even a couple does not mean that your Pokemon is actually doing more damage when you attack with it, and that's because of the damage formula (see Assumption 4). Maybe you just evolved your perfect Scizor and scored a perfect moveset (Fury Cutter/X-Scissor) and you want to use it on the Raid Boss Alakazam. Well, from level 20 to level 29, your Scizor is going to be dealing the exact same amount of damage with it's quick move. Only once it reaches level 29.5 does your Scizor actually start dealing more damage with its quick move. Hope that helps, at least a little.A question that gets asked on the Silph Road often is "how far should I power up my Pokemon?" In a perfect world, the answer would be AS FAR AS POSSIBLE! But with increased Stardust & Candy requirements after level 30, half the CP increase after level 30, and damage rounding, the answer is faaaaar more complicated. So I've taken the Top Raid Boss Counters from Gamepress and found where the attack's Quick Move will stop increasing the their overall DPS.Assumptions:1) Raid Bosses' defense correspond to a certain level (and therefore a different CPM)Tier 4 = Level 40Tier 3 = Level 30Tier 2 = Level 252) Raid Bosses have perfect Defense IVs3) Attackers have perfect Attack IVs4) The damage formula isDMG=floor(0.5*ATK/DEF*STAB*SE)+1  A couple of things before we begin. I didn't appraise anything below level 25, so some Pokemon have a bolded 25 to denote that they haven't been fully analysed. Also, I put some of this together while running on empty, so mistakes are quite possible. Generally if your Pokemon doesn't have perfect Attacking IVs you can power it up an extra half level to reach the move floor (so a Vaporeon with 14 ATK IVs would need to be lvl29.5 vs lvl29 for a Stopping at exactly level 30 is probably not the besting thing to do for max DPS, though it's generally sound advice because of diminishing returns. That said, rarely do Pokemon need to be at Level 39 to reach their DPS limit (with regards to Quick Moves). More powerful moves generally benefit more from the higher levels whereas really low powered moves (Fury Cutter) won't see much improvement for many many power ups. But because more powerful moves are generally longer, the improvement in DPS has less of an impact than the sudden jumps that lower powered moves are known for (jumping from 3 damage to 4 damage per hit is a 33% improvement whereas jumping from 13 damage to 14 damage per hit is only a 7.7% increase) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2v0xFOE
