"“The Gym is under attack! Try again later.” - What it really means"
#PokemonGO: If you're been active in the gyms, you probably noticed this error where you can't add pokemon into the gym and you get a message saying “The Gym is under attack! Try again later.”NOTE: Whether the gym is under attack or not is completely irrelevant. There are 2 causes for this error. The first is when a defender has been booted out in the last 10mins. I believe this is intended, in order to discourage gym shaving. It is a server-side limitation, you will not be able to add anything until this 10mins is up, or if another team takes over the gym. If it turns white and remains white, players of the team that were controlling the gym immediately before it turns white will not be able to slot for 10mins. The only way to speed this up is to get someone from another team to slot something in, then reclaim the gym.The second cause of this error is if the gym had just been taken over by your team. This is a client-side error, and has been acknowledged by niantic (it seems they think the last update fixed it, but as far as I can tell the bug still exists). When this happens, anyone from the same team will have the slotting button grayed out for the initial 5-10mins of gym control. Being a client-side issue, the server lets you add pokemon if you manage to send the request. As long as you have managed to press the slotting button before the first defender is added, you will be able to add your pokemon (unless you try to add something that someone else has added). When gymming in a group, to ensure everyone gets to slot, here's what you can do:1) Make sure everyone is in the final fight so that everyone gets priority2) Before the gym dies, arrange who slots what to prevent same mon clashes later on3) Once the gym turns white, make sure everyone has pressed the adding button and is on the selection page, before anyone actually confirms their addition to the gym.I hope this helps, mostly I want to clear the misconception that pokemon cannot be added to gyms when they are under attack. Again, “The Gym is under attack! Try again later.” error has absolutely nothing to do with whether the gym is actually under attack or not. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2tFbrS4
