"I just did a Gengar Raid Solo (Hex/Focus Blast) here are my tries and what I took away from it."
#PokemonGO: So today I saw a Gengar Raid appear and decided to try to solo it since I knew that the best pokémon to counter it was Tyranitar... To my surprise when the pokémon selection screen popped up all it selected was Lugia. So I found out it has Focus Blast but no way I can beat Gengar with just Lugia I thought that's why I tried with Tyranitar so here's my strategy. Warning: Focus Blast will one shot your Tyranitar if not dodged so beware of that. Tyranitar charge move strategy Fill all 3 charge bars of Crunch before the first Focus BlastBy that time Gengar should be close to attackDodge Focus BlastAttack Gengar with the 3 bars of CrunchAfter that, attack and when 1 bar is filled do the charge move. Don't bother dodging Focus Blast a second time because your Tyranitar will die one way or another. 1st try - All charge moves dodged PokémonLevelCPATK/DEF/STAMovesetCharge Move DodgedTyranitar30312415/14/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311914/15/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311314/12/15Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30309914/12/13Bite/CrunchYesEspeon30254814/14/14Confusion/Future SightAlakazam30243414/14/14Confusion/Future Sight Result: 0 seconds on 4st tyranitar. Gengar still keeps about the same health. 3nd 3rd try - No dodges PokémonLevelCPATK/DEF/STAMovesetCharge Move DodgedTyranitar30312415/14/13Bite/CrunchTyranitar30311914/15/13Bite/CrunchTyranitar30311314/12/15Bite/CrunchTyranitar30309914/12/13Bite/CrunchEspeon30254814/14/14Confusion/Future SightLugia30304813/15/14Extrasensory/Future Sight Result: 0 seconds on Lugia. Gengar ends with about 10% of health. 4th try - 3 charge moves dodged PokémonLevelCPATK/DEF/STAMovesetCharge Move DodgedTyranitar30312415/14/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311914/15/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311314/12/15Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30309914/12/13Bite/CrunchLugia30304813/15/14Extrasensory/Future SightLugia20205115/15/14Extrasensory/Future Sight Result: 0 seconds on the 1st Lugia. 5 more seconds and Gengar would be done. Very close to defeat it. 5th try - 2 charge moves dodged PokémonLevelCPATK/DEF/STAMovesetCharge Move DodgedTyranitar30312415/14/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311914/15/13Bite/CrunchYesTyranitar30311314/12/15Bite/CrunchLugia30304813/15/14Extrasensory/Future SightLugia20205115/15/14Extrasensory/Future SightLugia20203315/15/10Extrasensory/Future Sight Result: Gengar defeated with 7 seconds left on the first Lugia. Conclusion: The most important thing to me while trying was to figure out how many times I could dodge a Focus Blast and still be able to beat it in time. I hope this can help anyone that is thinking about doing a Gengar Raid. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2iJZPLR
