"Raid Etiquette to non-players so Pokemon Go does not lose gym locations."

#PokemonGO: Hope to hear some positive ways we can use good Raid Etiquette to non-player(s)Brief: Now that legendary raids are pulling large groups of people to gym locations (many of which that border or reside on private property) we need to be ambassadors of why Pokemon Go is a positive thing for our community. If we do not do our job to be respectful to the view of non-players we could see gym locations being removed.Things to do when approached / encountered by a non-player(s) while raiding with multiple people.Be Nice and explain what you and everyone else is doingIf you take the view of a non-player it can be very strange and potential viewed threatening to see a "mob" of people outside you house, church, place of business, etc...The non-player(s) who natural reaction is to go in fight mode will probably make some comment about your group being a disturbance or on private property. Deescalate these conversations by explaining that the group of you are playing a virtual reality game together and you will be on your way shortly. Also if you are on private property and you are asked to leave DO SO.Most Non-player(s) will be inquisitive about raid groups as a mix age group of people staring at their phones is an interesting sight. Be nice Make EYE CONTACT (or at least look away from your phone) with these people and explain that everyone here is playing a game together. Be joyful in explaining what you are doing and it will be welcomed my the non-player(s). You never know when a non-player will be joining you on a raid next week because they wanted to get in on the community and fun.Make sure you are parked legally and are not blocking any walkways or access points-Just because you think you will be back to your car shortly does not mean you should not park it illegally. If a raid group or their cars are blocking pathways it really send a bad message about the game. I was part of a raid that took place at the front entrance of a large condo complex and many players illegally parked hindering access of the people who lived their entering or leaving. If you were trying to get home and were blocked by a group of people on their phones you would be upset so remember consider others and they will consider you. Take the time to park properly and if you are really worried about a group starting without you pull up to location tell the raid group you are just parking and they will wait for you.Edit Thank you u/MrDNLI'll add something:If you're playing at a church or other, similar, private place, ask permission to play if you can.My first Lugia raid was outside a church, and the priest came outside to see what was going on. He knew immediately why we were there. I was the only one who asked if he was OK with us being there, and he said yes, and thanked me for asking -- he said no one else had yet.I found that troubling. In most cases, when you ask for permission, people are going to say okay. The simple truth is that people who are polite and respectful are not likely to be a nuisance. So, be nice, be polite, and be willing to leave quietly if the de facto host asks. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2u5HrCp
