"If You Do Not Defeat a Raid Boss, You Can Avoid Having to Heal"

#PokemonGO: This post describes how to avoid having to heal your Pokemon after an unsuccessful raid (i.e. a raid in which you do not defeat the boss). To begin, we established in the post about re-rolling CP that there is a “cool down” timer for raids – this is what makes it possible to re-roll CP. See here: http://ift.tt/2ysiwrm cool down period appears to be 10 minutes (CONTRARY to our initial report that it was 15 minutes). More accurately, we know that 9 minutes is not enough time and 11 minutes is enough time. So, we are betting that 10 minutes is the exact amount of time needed for a raid to cool down. Here’s how to avoid having to spend potions and revives after an unsuccessful raid (by all means, test it out if you are skeptical):Begin the raid (even if you expect to win).If you realize you cannot win, close the app before the BATTLE timer runs out.Re-open the app at any time, but DO NOT CLICK THE GYM where the raid occurred. When you re-open the app, you should notice that NONE of your pokemon are fainted or injured.Wait the cool down period of 10 minutes PLUS whatever time was left on the battle timer BEFORE clicking the gym. (For example, if 30 seconds remained on the battle timer, wait 10 minutes and 30 seconds before clicking the gym.)After waiting the requisite time, if you click on the gym, it will be as though you never battled it in the first place (none of your pokemon will need potions or revives).Practical applications:If, mid-battle, you discover that you will not have enough power to defeat a raid boss, you can use this method to avoid having to use potions or revives. Although you do have to wait for the cool down timer to expire, if you have to wait for additional trainers to come help you out anyway, this is not an extra loss in time.If you use the re-roll strategy linked above, any players that choose to re-roll will not have to spend potions or revives on their injured pokemon. As with the other research I have posted, I am indebted to /u/painfulplumber for his help. In this case, it was an incidental finding (we discovered it when a group of trainers ran the re-roll experiment on a Raikou and realized that none of their pokemon needed healing afterward). Subsequent tests showed the same results. But we are a small group, and so any further testing is invited! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jNS6gy
