"Just how Signature is Alola?"

It's really late, I can't edit the whole thing, but I forgot Crabominable's Ice Hammer. Sorry! Go to tl;dr for accurate count.Alola has a lot less Pokemon than most generations. But because it could focus on each Pokemon, they all feel unique, at least to me. Each one seems like it has some niche via a signature ability, move, or something else. So I wondered, just how many "signature" things are there in Alola? All three starters have exclusive Z-moves to go with their signature moves, Primarina and Decidueye have signature abilities and I think Incineroar's Throat Chop is exclusive as well. 3/3 introduced evolutionary lines so far.Toucannon has Beak Blast, Gumshoos has Stakeout. I'll count Raichu's signature Z-move and Pikachu's two signature z-moves. 6/6Alolan Raticate doesn't have anything. Neither does Persian. 6/8.Chajabug has Battery, so it technically counts, even though Vikavolt doesn't have anything signature. 7/9.Power of Alchemy on Alolan Muk is a hidden ability, but still signature. 8/10Crabominable has... a unique typing? That's way too prone to change. 8/11Tangling Hair for Diglett's line, and Pollen Puff for Cutiefly's. Oricorio's four styles, plus its signature move, plus its unique ability mean it's a very special Pokemon. 11/14. Looking pretty signature-heavy so far.The two forms of Lycanroc are kind of arguable. It's a pretty special evolutionary method, only shared with Cosmoem. Plus they're getting a Z-move in USUM. I'll count it as 12/15."Get schooled by Wishiwashi". I love that so much. Toxapex has Merciless, Mudbray and Mudsdale have Stamina. Don't forget Salandit's Corrosion. There's Dewpider's Water Bubble too. Pyukumuku, my favorite Alola Pokemon, has the ever-so-memorable Innards Out. Six more signatures make for 18/21.FINALLY, two boring Pokemon! Just kidding, Shiinotic and Lurantis are cool even though- wait, Strength Sap and Solar Blade. Sigh... 20/23 of Alola's new Pokemon have something signature about them.Oh, and Alolan Marowak has Shadow Bone. Fluffy on Bewear is one-of-a-kind as well. And even though they're clones, Queenly Majesty and Dazzling mean Tsareena and Bruxish have different names so I'll count it. Tsareena has Trop Kick too. 24/27.Oranguru and Passimian have Instruct and Reciever, which I count as different from Power of Alchemy. 26/29.Wimpod and Golisopod both have unique signature abilities, given only to them. Even though they do the exact same thing. With 27/30 lines so far, 9/10 Alolan Pokemon have a signature something.Water Compaction on Sandygast brings the count up to 28/31. Type: Null becomes Silvally for RKS System. Now our count is up to 29/32.Singles stages, rapid fire: Minor, Shields Down. Komala, Comatose. Shell Trap for Turtonator, and Drampa has Frenzy. Togedemaru has Zing Zap. Mimikyu with Disguise. 35/38.Galvanize for Alolan Golem... but WAIT! Alolan Ninetales and Sandslash don't have anything! Hahahaha! The count is at 36/41.Dhelmise has Steelworker and Anchor Shot, and Alolan Exeggutor has memes. Also Dragon Hammer is signature. 38/43.Kommo-O has Clanging Scales, bringing the non-legendary count up to... 39/44. The Ultra Beasts would actually dilute it a bit if you don't count Beast Boost as a shared signature trait for all seven of them. The four Tapu's have Nature's Madness, their Z-move, and signature abilities. Lunaala and Solgaleo are technically one line, I guess, but both have signature abilities, even if they're renamed versions of old ones. Magearna's Soul-Heart is unique, and Marshadow has a signature move and a Z-move to go with it. Necrozma has Prism Armor and a signature move.I did this pretty late at night, I might have missed something. Please let me know so I can correct it. So yeah, Alola has even more signature things than even I expected. The Ultra Beasts, kinda, and mayyybe Rockruff are the only non-regional variants that you could argue don't have anything special... And being a new form of an old Pokemon is pretty special in itself. Maybe I'll look at other Pokedexes for comparison to Alola, or I could measure Alola overall, including stuff from older generations. I'll bet the ratio is pretty much even across regional dexes rather than introduced Pokemon. Have a nice day!TL;DR: 41/45 non-legendary lines have a signature thing. Ninetales, Sandslash, Persian, and Raticate are the four. The legends all have signature things too, unless you count Beast Boost on the UBs as separate.Edit: Forgot to count Comfey. Triage makes the count 41/45. Also Throat Chop is not signature, Sneasel get it via egg move. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2xnOPtR
