"Virginia Beach, VA EX Raid Experience"

#PokemonGO: Hey all, I'm a level 32 Valor Player in Virginia Beach. I got invited to an EX raid after doing a Raikou raid at a Sprint Kiosk at a local mall. During that Raikou raid, we had a security guard come up to us since a group of 20+ ppl appeared in the middle of the mall out of nowhere and asked what we were doing. So we showed him we were playing Pokemon Go and he said "You can't do that here" Long story short, the Sprint guy vouched for us and the raid carried on.Fast forward to the raid last Friday. I arrive at the mall just after 5pm ahead of the 6pm start time. I made it a point to talk to Sprint and Mall Security (they have a security stand basically next to the kiosk). Big Surprise, Sprint didn't know anything special was happening at their gym. I explained to him what was going on and told him we were going to trying to stay out of the middle of the mall and use the food court and couch areas that can reach the gym. I said the same thing to the security guard and he appreciated me letting them know and also asked to try to use the food court areas and just avoid a crowd around the Sprint kiosk. Luckily for us, the food court wasn't very busy yet, so all of the pokemon go players could sit in the food court area.I was organizing a Valor group on our local raiding facebook page and several of us were there early and controlled the gym. Most of the players for that particular raid were Valor, with Instinct having the 2nd best showing and surprisingly, very few Mystic.Anyways, we held gym control from 5pm to 6pm with no trouble. Mewtwo pops at 6pm and I make one private Valor group and another member makes a 2nd, the rest of the teams made groups for themselves. Tyranitars were suggested so I knew it wouldn't have Focus Blast. I believe we had 16 players in our lobby and I only had to use 2 pokemon, very quick kill. I then moved myself away from the crowd for the catch phase to focus a little more. As stated on this sub before, Mewtwo is pretty far back. Wait for his attack and throw after he puts his arm back down. I aim for "Great" curveballs since they are more consistent, I was lucky enough to catch it on my first throw with a golden razz! I also had quite the nice surprise with it's CP..Pokedex EntryAppraisalAfter my catch, I went to see how the other players were doing. I'm pretty sure i only heard of 3 or 4 people not catching it in total across all players that were there. I would say there was about 50 of us. It was quite an exciting experience and all of the players were so happy about getting to participate.Final thoughts: If you have issues with security or anything like that at gyms, talk to them. They don't want problems with you and they want you to have a good time. Communication is a wonderful thing.Bonus maxed out Mewtwo. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jC0TSC
