"What's the in-universe reason NPCs never have 6 Pokemon?"

The truth is, I want to run a Pokemon-themed dungeons and dragons with Pokemon Tabletop Adventures. A big part of this will then be the immersion. I want players to feel like they are a part of the Pokemon world, and as such, are bound by the same rules as all the NPCs.One of the consequences of this are items. Items will likely be a lot more expensive. Winning a battle because you're pumping potions into your Pokemon doesn't seem right to me, it should be an occasional thing, or at the very least, an out-of-battle thing. The other thing I'm having trouble with is the amount of Pokemon. each trainer has. Is there any in-universe reason a trainer would only have, say, around 3 Pokemon instead of the usual 6? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2eLPb31
