"Announcing Pokemon Go Third Saturday: A Global Event Series by the Community, for the Community (Taking Applications)"

#PokemonGO: Announcing Pokemon Go Third Saturday: A Global Event Series by the Community, for the Community (Taking Applications)Trainers. We are pleased to announce a new type of Unofficial Pokemon Go event - Ingress: First Saturday Pokemon Go: Third SaturdayPart social, part competitive, Pokemon Go: Third Saturday is a Trainer-organized meetup that happens on the third Saturday of the month. Our first globally coordinated #PkmnGoTS meetup will happen on October 21st, 2017.Wait.. What is Pokemon Go Third Saturday?Pokemon Go Third Saturday (#PkmnGoTS) is adaption of Ingress’s First Saturday. It’s an event that’s hosted each month by local trainers all across the world on the third saturday of every month. The event was first adapted by FevGames but since their first event’s score submission post after the pilot they have seemingly abandoned the concept. There have been isolated player organized events but they are still lacking the global coordination that FevGames was able to give to IngressFS, the ability to announce winners globally, the ability for cities to compete with each other. There hasn’t been a successful coordination of events to have the same rules, to collect the same stats, to give trainers that fair ground to compete globally. That's where we’re coming in.The primary goal of this event series is to bring trainers together in a friendly atmosphere and help build the community stronger together. Encourage local coordination and team identity. Attract players to the same place for a chance at prizes and global recognition, invite them into your local chats and communities. So what does that mean? What is the actual event? What do we do there?Third Saturday is a competitive event, but it’s geared and balanced to be able to attract all sorts of trainers. No matter what level you are it’s going to be fun and you have a chance at winning. At its simplest, PkmnGoTS is a 2 hour grinding competition. Organizers take people’s starting stats in specific categories, let players play for 2 hours, take their scores again after, then announce and/or award winners for improving the most in each category. We’ve set 5 categories to be required, but local event organizers are free to add their own flair to the event by collecting additional stats or goals for their event. The basic Pokemon Go: Third Saturday Schedule1:00 PM Meet & Greet: Meet the other trainers local to your area, put a name to a face, and make connections with your fellow trainers.1:45 PM Group Photo: Show Niantic how hungry we are for Trainer events, share group photos and any other photos of the event online with the hashtag #PkmnGoTS and/or tag our Facebook Page. This is probably the most important part of the event.2:00 PM (Start): Register your starting stats with the event organizers, once you register your starting stats you have 2 hours to return and register ending stats. Keep an eye on the time your stats are submitted because after two hours you'll automatically be disqualified.4:00 PM (End): Trainers will check back in with the organizers and wait for local winners to be announced. Event organizers are encouraged to award prizes and/or certificates for their winners.Trainers have been organizing similar events on their own all over the world, but we're trying to add another layer to the event with globally coordinated rules, format, and leaderboard. This event was first envisioned by FevGames adapting Ingress First Saturday but since their first event’s score submission post after the pilot they have seemingly abandoned the concept. That’s where we’re coming in.Can NYC catch more pokemon than SF? Will Sydney walk further than Aukland? Shall Buenos Aires earn more XP than Rio? Region v. region, City v. city, Team v. team. Global scores will be measured and reported back to #PkmnGoTS for bragging rights and possible awards. That sounds great, but how do I get one in my town?If you're interested in organizing one of these events and be a part of the first globally coordinated #PkmnGoTS event on October 21st fill out this form to let us know. As responses come in we'll be reaching out and inviting local organizers to be a part of this project. With the help of /u/16495701722 we've developed a toolset and leaderboard for organizers to take advantage of that will hopefully take all the heavy lifting out of calculating the winners. Filling out the form above will put you in a waiting list to access the discord chat where we’ll be distributing these tools and coordinating. You can check out that leaderboard here. It looks awesome. [link]In the mean time, we've still got some resources for you that are completely public and we welcome you to use them to host your own events, even if you're not collaborating with us.The Public Resources Folder includes a basic introduction slideshow of what it's like to organize, a basic scorecard, and some basic certificate templates. If you want to contribute to these public resources fill out this form and we can get you added in as part of the team.#PkmnGoTSThis event is completely community organized, and is not affiliated with FevGames, Niantic, Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, or any other IP rights holders.
