"My pogo experience in Iceland"
#PokemonGO: I live in the suburbs of New York. We happened upon cheap tickets to Iceland this past weekend and decided to go for it. Although it was a family trip and my crew is not really into Pokémon, i figured I could get a Mr Mime and possibly do a Suicune raid if I was lucky enough to have a gym in my hotel (no such luck). However I did observe a few thingsFirst of all, the range for spinning pokestops/gyms, catching Pokémon and attacking gyms was MUCH bigger than in the states. I was hitting stops almost twice as far away as normal. This increased as we traveled from Reykjavik northwards so it must have to do with our distance to the equator. I wondered how far you could reach from the North Pole...I also had the opportunity to use incense on tours, as we moved slowly over some rough roads and were out of range of wild spawns, and was able to catch loads of random pokes (although not a mr Mime). One weird thing that kept happening was the incense would spawn something really out of place (like a Poliwag) , and when I clicked on it I would get an error 26, followed by replacing it with a more normal poke which was then clickable. Incense was Really useful for once, since the increased range allowed for catching pokes at higher tour bus speeds. In addition it allowed me to catch pokes in zones that would normally be impossible (I like having pokes from faraway places with cool names).I did finally catch a Mr Mime at my hotel in Reykjavik, but oddly enough of all places the location did not register; where the location should be there is just a pokeball and a date. That has never happened to me anywhere else in the world.Anyway it was a great trip and I highly recommend it whether you pogo or not! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2i9nJRj
