"I find it interesting how steadily Pokemon games' QoL has progressed (mostly)."
It's most apparent if you look at it in reverse order: every new generation makes it harder to go back to every older generation. When you drop from Gen 7 to Gen 6, you're back to having to plan around HM usage, carrying a slave or wasting moveslots of party members.Drop to Gen 5 and suddenly you're grinding again. Yeah, you felt like replaying the game at first, but now you're burning out before even getting halfway.Drop to Gen 4 and now you need to carefully plan out your TM usage. Maybe you even need to plan your party so they don't need the same TMs for their coverage moves.Drop to Gen 3, half the Pokemon you're considering for your party are gimped by the old physical/special system. Gyarados, Flareon, Breloom, Swampert, Gengar, and that's just talking about STAB. Half of the coverage moves you're used to having run on a different stat now.Drop to Gen 2, and the movepools have dried up entirely. Having four types on one Pokemon is now a rarity instead of the norm.By the time you hit Gen 1, really, what's the point? Movepools barely exist, good moves barely exist, some types might as well not exist...Personally, I have serious trouble convincing myself to replay anything before Gen 4. The physical/special split was huge for the diversity of viable party members. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2hd7wu0
